My friends and I were brainstorming the other day, how far can we go to add viable subthemes to our Cube without over doing it? We thought that in addition to the basic land that is freely available for deck construction, we would allow four of any Onslaught cycling land or Mirrodin artifact land to be as well, if the player decides that is what he / she wants. Now, we're hoping that this will allow cards like Astral Slide, Lightning Rift, Frogmite, and Broodstar will be playable. We'd also have to support these themes, especially cycling, by adding more cheap cycling cards (Street Wraith and Edge of Autumn, + others).
We also had the idea of adding in one of each of the Invasion wish spells plus Glittering Wish, then making a relatively large wishboard with very specific silver bullet cards that you might want (Indrik Stomphowler and Tendrils of Agony for example). If that doesn't work out, however, we might just use the undrafted part of the Cube (usually 400ish cards) as the Wishboard.
Wishes are really strong cards, really high picked and i really recommend to include them.
I'm totally against any theme that need to tinker with the cube, such as cycling lands and artefacts lands drafted outside of the stack. If people wanna play a deck in which they are important, the pick them high. Everything must have a cost in cube. And if a card is only situationally playable, such as affinity card, Cycling card, as powerfull as it can be, i prefer not include it than tinkering with my cube list.
In my cube, wish can be any cards you dont allready get in your deck, minus : Power Nine, blacker lotus, LoA, Infernal Contract, Sol Ring and mana drain.
Officially, Wishes would work the same way in tournament play (you can get stuff from your sideboard or RFG zone). Your playgroup is free to use any 'special' rules (like Neonico's above)...
Hm, but is there a time limit or something, else someone will take like 5 minutes going through the cube looking for a card, only to have someone else telling them the card is actually in someone else's deck @_@
in my playgroup Burning Wish will ba able to fetch any sorcery you drafted yourserlf.
Booster Tutor gets you random 15 cards from the cube, and that's your booster to choose from.
