I run Plague Sliver (no Juzam :(), Phyrexian Scuta, Graveborn Muse and Grinning Demon in mine. If I expand my cube, I'd probably include Mirri, since I believe she is more powerful than Ashling, but right now, I can't see it beating out any of those.

Check out my pauper cube! and thanks to PurpleD @ [<--- Left Play Design <---] for making this awesome banner!
You have to look at their toughness' however. Juzams et al. all are much harder to burn out than Mirri and as iconic creatures they usually get the nod (hence the price tag on a Juzam Djinn)
Grinning Demon is obv inferior to the power of 1st strike lol.
I don't think I said that. I think I said Mirri will average more damage and the first strike helps the poor defense in combat, not that first strike makes it better that a 6/6. My comparison was also to a 5/5 not a 6/6.

Fair enough. At the very least I would encourage cubes like yours to try Mirri. Your black is already built with this direction in mind and Mirri should fit nicely.
Thank you to all. I will definitely try the Cabal Interrogator, my 4 drops are good so for now, Mirri will ride the bench.
How has Weatherseed Treefolk been for those play it? It seems unusual. Weird casting cost and low power, but it'll almost always recur and come back again and again and again.
I like Mirri, the Cursed. It has haste and flying. I'm not saying it the best card in the spot, since my cube ALSO has Plague Sliver and other 4 drops but it's certainly not bad.
Laquatus's Champion turned out to be a real bomb in someone's deck this weekend, btw.

Like you said: a weird casting cost which you'll have to be able to pay and pay again.
This card was on my list when selecting green creatures but if you're spending 2GGG you want something else, something like Kodama of the North Tree, which has Shroud, more power and more toughness.
I have had good luck with Spitting Image. It is quite expensive for a Clone effect, but its retrace makes it worthwhile. Making a bunch of 187 creatures is amazing.

I like the Treefolk. I wouldn't say 5 power is low, did you mean toughness? I guess 5 power is low for green 5 drops but it is still 20 damage in four attacks which seems like a good clock. I think part of why Treefolk is good is that green decks lack card advantage and this card gives you virtual card advantage, eating a creature and coming back.
This looks to be... really interesting. Red likes Falter effects, and this pretty much says "half of their creatures can block." At least, that's what it looks like. It makes them having solitary blockers useless too. A friend found it in... Shandalar of all things, it looks to be quite interesting a card.
A nice way to give aggro decks more reach and screws over wrath effects hard. A friend and I found that you get N-1 creatures out of the pit, where N is the creatures that you get. Its sac ability is free, which is really nice.
I don't know how many people play with it, but Cataclysm has been doing very well in my cube since it was added a few weeks ago. It is great when you have a massive fatty, and your oppenent is playing a slower deck, you usually disrupt them to the point of no recovery or can smash face with your bigger dude before they recover.
I had a nice cataclysm moment the other day:
Opponent had me a little locked with Liliana Vess and Chandra on the table and me with an empty board and 10 lands... I tap out and play cataclysm and after explaining to my friend that no he could keep 1 planeswalker just because if the card had been print more recently it would include them lol, I drop an Exalted Angel that was the sole card left in my hand. PWNED!

One of my favorite cards. Also great in WW when you've got a creature+equipment. Run it out there put your opponent to one land and its pretty easy to win.
Best time I ever cast it:
I have 4-5 lands, Skullclamp, Griffin Guide, Land Tax, three guys. Cast Cataclysm, keep a guy, make a Griffin, draw two, blow out my opponent.

I acctualy have a copy of Raging River sitting in a binder, I always thought it was hilarious that a card made you declare your creatures as either east or west side.

I beg to differ, but each cube is different. If you have a significant black aggro presence built into a cube, then Confidant becomes an easy first pick (as a creature that is in contention for "best of all time" status should be).
When I'm going for black aggro, not much in my deck costs more than 4 mana and I'm very happy with Dark Confidant then. Ad nauseum won't be in my cube. Sure it's a good instant, but I still feel it's too much mana ..

A card I haven't seen in too many cubes is Laquatus's Champion. I put it in expecting it to not make too much of a splash, but it ended up being a great finisher, and gets drafted highly. I had to take out my Pre-Release version so people could read it, since apparently nobody knows what it does.
I have (had, can't find it anymore atm) a foil English version of that Laquatas' Champion, took me a long time to find it. The card is indeed very good, and it regenerates too.

Necroing this thread to talk about my favorite dark horse card: Epochrasite. Now he's not be the best guy out there and is definitely not an aggro creature but in addition to being a solid speed bump for control that comes back as a 4/4 he has some interesting applications:
Tinker - one of the best cards to Tinker away and can also be grabbed by Tinker in a pinch to give you a 4/4 recurring body if you need one.
Aether Vial - Probably the best 2cc creature you can plop down off of Vial.
Tezzeret the Seeker - He's crazy good in a Tezzeret deck, for 2 counters you get a 4/4 and Tezzeret can even give him pseudo vigilance every turn.
He can also be sacced to Recurring Nightmare/Braids/Smokestack for some cute tricks, comes back after a Wrath, I've even chump blocked with him then cast Upheaval while he was suspended. A great card to Cascade into and he plays nicely with blink effects like Momentary Blink and Flickerwisp. All in all a solid control guy that has a number of applications if you look for them.
I run him. In a world without a lot of good artifact creatures (especially low CC ones) he is a solid, versatile card that combos with a lot of other cube cards.
Corpse Dance is my favorite Dark Horse card. It is by far the card I find myself splashing for the most. Because of its text I've used it to do huge alpha strikes after playing it on the opponent's EOT. Also with the right cards on top it is an amazing combat trick that will net loads of card advantage.
In one slow game I kept bringing back Sakura-Tribe Elder to fog and accelerate myself.
The biggest argument against it is having to keep the GY in a specific order, but anybody who is thinking about playing legacy should get used to it. You don't want to make that mistake in tournament.

You didn't need to start, I already said it dies to burn. I didn't think I needed to list off burn cards for people to know what burn was
Sorry you don't like it it.

Works for me.
I think that Mirri is decent, just inferior to some other creatures vying for their slot.

I like the card a lot. Usually has a really good target and then you can retrace it whenever needed.
