My friends and I love drafting with each other, but since we are all poor students we can't afford to draft every week. Because of this, we were thinking of making a cube.
Most of our collection is from M12 and Innistrad block, so we were thinking of applying some of the same themes there (allied colors and some tribal support). Does anyone have any tips on how to get started with something like this (how many lords, good ratios, ect)?
Spirits are okay, too. Virtually all of them are dirt cheap, too.
Slivers also good.
Spirits are ok after Innistrad+Dark Ascension i guess. Before they had no lords, that makes the tribe a lot worse.
I've tried slivers myself, and one of my friends have tried them as well in his regular cube. The problem is that they are spread over so many colors. I think you should focus them in WGR if you want them to be succesful. But I still think that they are a bit iffy because they also boost all your opponents changelings and so forth.

The best spirits are in esper colors. There's plenty of playable arcane spells out of kamigawa that also synergize with spirits.

Less removal than a regular cube, because you don't want players to lose their lords all the time, and be left with a couple of sucky elfs.
A lot less Mass Removal because you want to enable creature strategies.

Remember though, we will be using mostly Innistrad cards for a little bit until some future sets come out
