So I'm sure people will have varying opinions on this issue. I am considering playing an Alpha Orcish Artillery in my Cube. As some of you might know, the Alpha version of this card costs 1R instead of 1RR, making it sooo much better and filling a much-needed red 2-drop slot. Has anyone done this? I play some P3K cards and Blast from the Past, so I am not hellbent on playing cards exactly as they were meant to be played in sanctioned Magic. I just want to build the ultimate limited experience with real, printed Magic cards, and an Alpha Orcish Artillery seems great for my Cube. A lot of people are playing Chaos Orb with an errata (which I am still not doing), so I think some people might be open to this.
You should play all the other misprints that made cards better. There's a ton of them out there if you're willing to do cards that were accidentally printed better than they're supposed to be.
What other notable misprints make a card Cube playable that originally wasn't? I have 100% English cards in my Cube, so it would have to be a cool foreign misprint for me to play it. I am also not going to play anything that's foil. I went through all the 'mass misprints' and I couldn't find anything other than Orcish Oriflame, which I honestly don't think is good enough to play.
There's the Spanish Meloku that makes 2/2 illusions, and the French? Disentomb that just returns a creature from your graveyard to the battlefield.
Is the Disentomb English? I have not seen that one.
Edit: Just found that it is Spanish. I am really looking for non-foil English misprints, and I don't see anything worthwhile. I'm also looking for a card that is not Cube-able without the misprint.
I'm very tempted to run Blast from the Past. It just seems like a good variance card. Cast it from your hand, bring it back, from your graveyard, on its way to the graveyard, cycle it. Okay the kicker not so much but eh.
I say it's all preference, as long as it doesn't "break the cube", do it. Considering it's not blue, it probably won't break the cube. Blue is the only color I could see doing that in a million years.
Most errors are on foreign cards, but for example the Revised Nevynerral's Disk doesn't require you to tap the card, which means that you can immediately activate it, if you ignore the errata.
"Disk begins tapped but can be untapped as usual." The intent is there even if the wording isn't.

Blast from the Past has become, in my playgroup, one of the top 5 spells in red. Even the kicker has been relevant. Sometimes you just want a 1/1 goblin to wield a sword or to use a chump blocker.
It can grind out a control deck with the the buyback ability if the game has stalled. I can recall a game where I casted Blast from the Past 5 times in the last turns of the game to threaten a win with direct damage as I was getting very close to being milled to death.
Blast from the Past is usually cycled for 1R and casted for Madness with R then flashbacked at some point in the game.
Those were mono artifacts, which required tapping to activate.
The Revised one wasn't a mono artifact, but at the time, if any artifact was tapped, it was effectively "turned off," so you couldn't activate the disk if it was tapped.

However, I believe the "tapped artifacts are turned off" thing ended with Revised. So they kept the original wording, but the original wording now had different meaning.

I didn't think the tapped artifact thing got taken out until the 6th edition rules change. (along with tapped blockers not dealing damage)
I'm pretty sure the rule was in effect atleast until Visions because I know Sands of Time cause a lot of headache under that rule. And was part of the reason why they nixed it.

Orcish Artillery is the most exciting of the misprints because it is pretty balanced for a Cube card. No explanations or erratas are needed, and it is in English. I am not going to put a Spanish Disentomb into the Cube and explain the translation to all of my players that do not speak Spanish, seems so gimmicky to me haha. If there is another card like Orcish Artillery or Oriflame, that would be cool to consider. I saw the Anthologies misprints, but none of them are good. I don't like the Cursed Scroll or other like that because Cursed Scroll is already a good card (and it's not English...). Like one of the guys on page 1 pointed out, the Alpha misprint of Orcish Artillery turns an unplayable Cube card into a quite good Cube card that fills a nice role in the Cube.

Ooooh you're right. I retract what I said. (For those interested, you can see where they changed it because when they got rid of the "turned off artifacts" rule they changed the wording on Howling Mine). I just forgot to check

Not all misprints work that way, unfortunately. The portuguese Stoic Rebuttal doesn't actually do anything; it's just cheaper if you have metalcraft ...
An actually constructive contribution: The german Sunscape Apprentice can also return your opponent's creatures. That's extremely strong!
Specialities about the cube: U tempo, B aggro, R slow-ish are supported. G aggro is not.
Currently trying to support tokens in all colors but blue, in different ways: W pumps them, B sacrifices them, R suicides them, G has decent-sized ones.

The non-english misprints lose their novelty unless you read the language. Otherwise it's just an impossible-to-read card with some custom house rules on it.

I think it's funny that the misprinted Orcish Oriflamme isn't even overpowered by today's standards, when you compare to cards like Honor of the Pure.
Also, don't forget the misprinted Japanese [CARD]Cursed Scroll
[/CARD] that activates for 2 rather than 3

The activation cost doesn't have a in the revised one, so it doesn't matter if it enters play tapped or not.

actually it did at the time, tapped artifacts didn't work, they were "shut off" when tapped so you would be unable to use it untill it untapped.
