I was crossing my fingers for another strangleroot geist. Anything where I can give one of the most boring cards the boot from the cube.
My two slot for green is pretty standard powered 360 fair. Nothing too crazy. I am just looking to give this guy the boot and am looking for anything else.
eh, my cube is fairly similar to yours wtwlf, but I have play with P3K (namely ravages of war, imperial seal and rolling earthquake) and unhinged (booster tutor and blast from the past...with the booster being a booster from the cube itself, though I take it out if play with more than 6).

I don't find it boring at all. No more boring than Savannah Lions or Lightning Bolt or Counterspell. It's a big vanilla creature for cheap, but that doesn't make it boring. It makes it good.
i don't think it's boring at all. it is variable size, interacts with the graveyard, can influence your deckbuilding and gameplay, etc. as far as big dumb vanilla guys go, goyf is actually one of the more interesting ones.
posting what green creatures you run would make this a bit easier.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
I don't think he's boring, for the reason that qq bring, mainly. But from just big dumb beater perspective, I can see why some would say he's boring.
It's hard to kick Tarmagoyf out though, unless you want to lower the power level of you cube. Tarmogoyf is, unsurprisingly, one of the better 2 drop in green.
I agree with qq, wtwlf, and most other posters here. How much more interesting can a 2-mana beatstick get? How many 2-mana aggro guys actually get better as the game goes on? Tarmogoyf is pretty ridiculous and I'm happy this forum talked me into including it.

Any suggestions?
It's weaker, but Vinelasher Kudzu is kind of similar to Tarmagoyf and slightly encourages a draft strategy (fetches/ramp).
Other's suggestions of the Boas and Scavenging Ooze are good too.
Tarmogoyf is a key piece of the green puzzle. I want it in every green midrange deck I build, because it is cheap, splashable, and it is really useful against both aggro and control. There is no card you can replace it with that will be as powerful and flexible.
If you dislike it that much, just go ahead and cut it. It is your cube, you don't need to defend your choices...unless you post them here ofcourse;)
I am with the others. I don't understand this whole 'boring' metric. Either cards are good or they are bad. Really bad cards are incredibly boring as they never make decks. In constructed broken decks can be boring, because they are too damn strong. I still remember winning a tournament with a Memory Jar-Megrim deck; a deck which was boring because it was too consistent and reduced the game to a dice roll.
The only card that I remember beeing a bit boring was Abeyance before they fixed it. Having four time walks in your deck was a bit iffy.
In a singleton environment it is harder to brake the format for a single card. Tharmogoyf is good, but not incredibly overpowered (in cubeland that is). It makes for a lot of interesting choices as explained before (instant boost, looting,...). A weaker point is that it is so good that every green deck will want to play it, but there are a lot of top tier card that are that way.
There are like, what, 12,000 Magic cards? Your cube has, what, 360 cards? You don't need reasons for not including the 11,640 cards you aren't playing, you just need to make the 360 cards you do play work together to make a fun, dynamic draft environment. If you don't like Tarmogoyf, just don't run it. There are plenty of other cards that will contribute to an equally fun, dynamic draft environment. Its hard to make a suggestion when we don't know what you want out of the card. If what you want is a Tarmogoyf level beater, well, run Tarmogoyf. If you want something else, give us a hint.
I think if you don't like a card for whatever reason, just don't play it. I do it with plenty of cards almost everyone else plays, for example Damnation. I simply don't like the color shifted version of Wrath of God.
Tarmogoyf is not even that great in aggressive cube decks, because you don't have the number of fetchlands a constructed deck has, and often it takes some time for creatures, artifacts, tribal enchantments and planeswalkers to die and sorceries and instants to be cast so that the Lhurgoyf spends an awkwardly long time as Squire. Don't get me wrong, it is absolutely powerful enough for cube, but I think that aggressive green decks don't lose much when you cut it.
Boring cards can make for interesting decks. Elite Vanguard is a boring card, vanilla 2/1 for W, but I have found aggressive decks increasingly fun to play.
Tarmogoyf is about as interesting as a 1G beater can be. It is also expensive and, in my opinion, ugly. I like neither the card frame nor the art. I don't have one in my cube because of this (mostly the price rather than the aesthetics). You can not run one too if you want!
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less." -Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass
I can see why some people might dislike the art, but I myself absolutely love the Future Frame. I think it's the best frame of the three. But I understand I might be in minority on that.
I think tarmogoyf is one of the best looking cards in the cube, especially foil, the dark picture with the dark futureshifted border makes it a standout and very good looking card. It's also not even the best 2 drop in green, but I guess it's boring because it attacks a lot...

Sorry to necro this, but it looks like this is the closest thing to an SCD thread that we have for 'Goyf! Tarmogoyf was discussed here in the Random Cube Card of the Day thread.

Without posting your green section, or at the very least including a link to your cube in your signature, this isn't really thread-worthy.
Yeah, that's what I meant
And to be fair, Mongrel also enablers reanimate decks and other graveyard strategies.
Cheers,

You could also go for Werebear, Skyshroud Elite, or the new Champion of Lambholt.

Personally, I don't run Tarmogoyf either.
