I wasn't trying to be harsh on the poster, just honest about the card evaluation. WG is a better combination for combining with creatures, but Glare's missing the part of the text that makes Opposition great.
Damn Wtwlf123, no need to be so harsh. I don't think Omir realized Opposition is mainly used to tap lands. Tapping creatures is okay too but locking your opponent out of the game is where it's at.
Haha it's okay. I've been on this forum a long time and I know wtwlf123. He wasn't being harsh I appreciate him saying it just like that. And you ARE right. I didn't realize glare can't tap lands and Opposition can
Oppositing being a single color is probably not what makes it the better card. I don't think my playgroup realizes Opposition is used for locking down lands. But you need a lot of creatures to do it no? I have a hard time imagining a board state where tapping your own creatures for your opponent's land is going to win you the game, unless your opponent has just cleared the board and you've just cast Secure the Wastes. But do you really want to use the creatures for tapping down your opponent's lands instead of just attacking then?
I guess I just don't have a lot of experience with playing blue control in cube

It's not all their lands. You use it to keep their resources under control. It prevents them from reaching 6 for the Inferno Titan that can break them out of the lock. It keeps them off double-white so they can't Wrath their way back in. So yes, you do want to forego attacking to disrupt their mana. Particularly with mana dorks and tokens that won't have much success in the red zone anyways.
If you removed Opposition's ability to do that, it wouldn't be good.
I guess that makes sense ;-) I'll remove Glare for sure and see if I can find a cut for Opposition then.
I think you have a couple things on your list like Confiscate and Keiga, the Tide Star you could cut that just aren't up to snuff in a 540 powered list anymore.
God, selesnya is so deep.
I'd cut dromoka if I were you.
Ajani mentor of heroes very underrated here, I like it more than sigarda/wurms/dromokas.
Selesnya charm is also very underrated, easily in the top 10.. Played it for a long time and it was awsome.. I only like it in a cube heavily supporting cheat decks tho... Eldrazi, reanimator, green/artifact ramp etc.
Neither breaks my top 4 tho..
Pridemage is my #2, but that wouldn't be true in an unpowered cube. In a powered cube , think it's crazy not to run it. Big fan of mirraris wake in unpowered... Not so much in powered, but still a good card.
First time I played with Opposition I also had Meloku. Absolutely insane. But with just a couple creatures to tap a couple lands it is a bomb too. They don't get to cast the top end of their curve while you do. This card will never leave my cube.

Yeah, and every creature you cast add immediate value to the table since they can be tapped right away into it in order to break your opponent's gameplan.
I'm on my way from 405 to 450 and expanding my guild sections from 3 to 4 along the way. I wanted badly to play with Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas, and also to better support the artifact deck, superramp, stax, give black some more depth, etc. I'm thinking 450 will work long-term for me.
I'm set on Dryad Militant, Pridemage, and Finks. I'm wondering about the fourth, though. Mirari's Wake seems really out of place to me. I play big ramp decks, but they don't tend to run or even splash white. I'm not even sure what else I'd dip into white for in such a deck other than Enlightened Tutor to fetch the thing.
So I was also thinking about Knight of the Reliquary, especially since I love Loam and Crucible and want to support those strategies, but I'm a little worried about my WG section having four creatures, all 1-3 mana. Seems like it locks players into aggro or midrange. Wake seems to fix that, but it doesn't really have a deck to go into.
Thoughts on this?

GW tends to be heavy on the creature side. I like Wake more than Knight, but both are pretty niche. Wake is still one of the better Mana Reflection variants out there alongside Regal Behemoth.
Voice of Resurgence is a good option to consider (if price isn't an issue), I like it much more than Knight at least.
voice has always been so good in our cube. sucks so bad when you are holding up a removal spell and they cast it. can almost play like a tarmogoyf when you cast it for 2 late game and the token it makes when it dies is big.
I would never cut voice from my section.
if you are worried about all creatures dont forget dromoka's command is a nice efficient spell with good flexibility.

Wake is worth the splash in said decks. You do not even have to prioritize fixing, as that is a five mana card and you are playing green, often that splash will be near free. But if you are white you might as well play white spot removals or other high powered cards such as Land Tax.
However I'd go with Voice as well.
First, Wake is worth splashing for in ramp decks. Second, Wake is a monster card in a token/ramp shell, with cards like Elesh Norn and Hornet Queen to cast into. It's a great card in just ramp shells, but if you can break the anthem effect too the card gets really bonkers. I think it's a far more irreplaceable effect than Voice.
Echoing others, Wake is worth splashing. In fact, by adding Wake (and Elesh Norn if you don't already run her) you will likely start seeing GW ramp decks more frequently. I only run 3 cards per guild and I'm constantly wondering if I should cut Pridemage for Wake.
Knight of the Reliquary seems more interesting now that the cycling duals have been announced. I love aggro Loam strats, too. Maybe worth a look?

Seems worth a try if you're running all 5 new duals + Ash Barrens. Knight of the Reliquary benefits from all the new lands + all the upgrades green and white has been getting in the aggro department.
I found Knight of the Reliquary a little slow. It was just always a lot of work for basically an evasion-less beefy grounder. Even with Harrow/Cataclysm shenanigans. There are just better things you can be doing with 3 mana. And there are better loam engines.
I definitely second the Wake suggestion. Card is generally busted if you untap with it (assuming you didn't make that your most expensive card in the deck).
I did too. It wasn't lacking good lands, the deck was lacking more land/graveyard synergy cards to make the KotR strategy worth drafting/pursuing. With a couple more Terravore/Titania, Protector of Argoth kinds of cards, I think aggro loam could become a viable strategy in the cube.
I'm also somewhat interested in how the cycling lands will affect Knight. They help him three times over - they discard themselves to pump KotR, they can be sacrificed while in play for his ability and can also be tutored by KotR for fixing. If/when they print the whole cycle, he might have more merit.
Selesnya has useable utility options, but it lacks that killer bomb that other color combinations have like Oko / Minsc & Boo / Grist / Fractured Identity / etc.
Here's what I'm currently running
- Dryad Militant
- Eladamri's Call (currently testing over Qasali Pridemage)
- Voice of Resurgence
- Kitchen Finks
- Knight of Autumn
Qasali Pridemage / Nature's Chant / Trostani Discordant are options that I also like. Kind of boring options compared to other guilds, but they still get the job done.

Its a 3 CMC beater than can ramp on critical turns (the sacrificed land doesn't have to be untapped).
