Control decks don't really like blowing up lands.
Just to illustrate, how many cubes are running Desolation Angel these days? For 1 more mana, you get a 5/4 flying angel plus the armageddon effect. I've lost games after resolving Desi. Not very many of course, but it has happened.
So Catastrophe often ends up being a no-frills overcosted wrath a lot of times. It's playable but not great in that capacity.
