So, everyone speculated about the possibility of a 1/1 for 1 mana with Evolve - and this is even better. To me, this guy is an autoinclude - it should be very easy to make it a 2/2 on turn 2 in a green aggro deck, and if you do get to live the dream and grow it a lot, the regeneration bonus even kicks in and makes this guy even more scary.
If you don't support green aggro at all in your cube, I can see leaving this guy on the sidelines, but even then, he seems like a good tool for aggressive green midrange decks to pressure control decks.
I don't blindly trust it will be good, so it isn't autoinclude, but it certainly has potential imo. As someone who support green aggro, I think it will be good.
But it will require testing to see how good it can be, how bad sometimes. I see limitations. It is very dependent of your environment anyway.
I doubt it will go higher than 4/4, there is not a lot of 5/x that see plays in aggro deck. And im not even sure how often it will go 4/4. I guess being second Wild Nacatl is good enough. It it can goes 3/3 turn 3 often, it's fine.
Also, how good is this card on the draw (this factor is not necessary relevant anyway).
edit : after a coffee, and with more clears ideas, it appears my standards were a bit too high in my first post. This is gonna be auto included obv.
This is a staple for every cube that supports green aggro. If you play any creature with power or thoughness 2 or greater on turn two, a turn one Experiment will attack as an Isamaru on turn two. What more do you want from your aggro 1-drop than attacking as a 2/2 on turn two? Maybe the ability to grow to a 3/3 later? Well, you're in luck, because this one can do that, too. The amount of 1/1 or 0/1 creatures in your aggro deck should be super small, so almost every single creature you cast will grow the Experiment the first time. Even Deathrite Shaman evolves it! I really can't see how anyone can be sceptical about this card.
I support green aggro and I support this card for cube.
I hope they come up with a promo for it though; can't bear the artwork.
I can't stand the name either. I either keep thinking it shoulld be "Experimental One", or it means "Experiment 1" but that sounds too YuGiOh-ish for me

I'm just wondering if Gatecrash will also contain 'Experiment Two', etc. In that case I'm already curious about 'Experiment Six'.
I think the soft cap for this is around 3/3 with the occasional 4/4.
Why hasn't anyone talked about the regeneration yet? I think that's going to be more tham just a sidenote. Opponent plays a non-*** sweeper, this survives at 1/1 and is back to growth phase. Swinging for 2 after a sweeper is great for an Isamaru/Nacatl.
I actually like the name and artwork if they don't make any other Experiment N. Maybe one at rare/mythic.And what's wrong exactly with the artwork? It's a translucent half-man half-jellyfish for crying out loud!
Can't wait for the photoshop/alter with trollface and "U jelly?"...
Specialities about the cube: U tempo, B aggro, R slow-ish are supported. G aggro is not.
Currently trying to support tokens in all colors but blue, in different ways: W pumps them, B sacrifices them, R suicides them, G has decent-sized ones.

I played Green Aggro before, and I'll be happy to add Experiment One to that suite. Better than I was hoping for on Evolve so far. That guy will regularly be a 2/2 on T2 when it attacks, and a 3/3 or even a 4/4 in the later stages of the game, that regenerate itself and start evolving again. Pretty swell for a 1-drop.

I run green aggro, but might be tempted to squeeze this guy in even if I didn't. He is a real pain for both aggro and control decks to deal with. I think he will turn out to be even better than it looks (he? it? whatever).
I think it looks like a solid one drop for green in pretty much all cube sizes, even if you are only running elvish one drops lots of creatures trigger this guy.

The name actually seems okayish since that's what some crazy simic experimenter would probably name their half man half octopus thing, however the creature type is what bothers me the most. Human Ooze just doesn't sound right at all...
I really like the name, I just hope (as others have mentioned) they don't go through a whole "Experiment Two" "Experiment Three" etc cycle.
It'd be fine to have a random "Experiment Four" without two or three, might provide some interesting theories if two and three died out or if they're laying dormant somewhere, who knows?

Maybe the cards CMC is what it's named after, since it's a one drop it's called experiment one. So we might get a sweet 6 drop or something and it will be called experiment 6.

I agree with this but if you don't currently support green aggro you should ask whether it is now something you want to add in.

The blue 0/1 flyer is also very good, but most cubes don't take advantage of blue tempo/aggro yet.
