It's not bad, but ballsy, well, is derived from a vulgar word for male gonads. It will not offend anyone, but it's language that can be inappropriate in certain situations, like Chapin's example of being the commentator on a M:tG game.
Specialities about the cube: U tempo, B aggro, R slow-ish are supported. G aggro is not.
Currently trying to support tokens in all colors but blue, in different ways: W pumps them, B sacrifices them, R suicides them, G has decent-sized ones.

I'll play this charm in every RW deck. It's great in everything. In aggro, it's probably the best, but slower Boros builds can use it as a planeswalker bullet, a counterspell to any removal that destroys one or more of your permanents, a way to turn a combat trade into a blow-out, a combo card with your wrath and sweeper effects, and a way to double-strike your lifelinkers. I can't picture a RW list this doesn't make the cut in.

i don't think ballsy is the kind of word chapin was talking about in the article, since it's not hurtful to anyone and has no history of being oppressive or bigoted. but i guess there is some irony in using a term that associates bravery and maleness to describe the article, considering its focus is on gender-related prejudice.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.

Indeed. It's not as if you'd called it "a ******y article" or something and I recognize that the irony is a little forced, but still.

Not only does it do other things but we've never gotten anything as efficient as 2cmc: deal 4 damage to target player, which is a lot more damage than 3. I would love to get a hybrid Boros card to shoot Figure of Destiny into my hybrid section.
You make a compelling argument. I still think this card will only ever get played in pure aggro lists. No deck with Disk is ever going to be running Boros Charm, as it's a pretty weak card in that sort of deck.
However... 6 mana for a one-sided armageddon? An aggro list will hit 6 mana on what, Turn 10? Are they saving their Armageddon for that? Is control waiting to wrath until they have a creature and 6 mana? Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not seeing these ideas as adding much value. In response to an opponent's wrath? Absolutely. But really, I would never expect Wrath and Boros Charm to end up in the same deck.
These are all very situational uses, but they are POWERFUL, and the situations do occur.
If that is all the card did, or you had to pay a hefty tax for these unlikely situations it would be a lot weaker... But that's not the case.
WR for 4 damage to target player is borderline playable!
WR for making your army indestructable is (less so) boderline playable!
If the card ONLY did these two abilities the card would be playable. Both those situations occur VERY frequently. In fact almost every game you want to do those two things.
Now take into consideration all these fringe advantages like;
double striking with Jitte/Swords, double striking to take out a key blocking unit, protecting your lands/key artifacts, one sided armageddon combo..
Not only does it do other things but we've never gotten anything as efficient as 2cmc: deal 4 damage to target player
interestingly, we've also never gotten anything as efficient as "2cmc: permanents you control are indestructible this turn." this card is pretty insane.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.

I want to point out that it makes all of your permanents indestructible, not just your creatures. So this is a counterspell against any Vindicate effect from your opponent at the very worst.
Want to Maelstrom Pulse my Ajani Vengeant? No. I have a Boros Charm.
Moreover, if your opponent is using a spell to kill a potential blocker and you play this to 'counter' it, chances are that you derail his entire combat phase as all remaining blockers are also indestructible.
I'm looking forward to including this card. As well as being good enough for cubing, I think it is the sort of card that will continually surprise and amuse with novel interactions.

I'm not taking life advice from patrick chapin. I don't care about his opinion on words. My experience with actual rape is not a light one, and in fact is very close to home. I'm not down with the absurdly politically correct, and over-sensitive Bull**** that seems to be so prevalent these days. Formerly 'negative' words are now 'positive' and vice versa. It just can't matter that much.
Words mean things, yes, but words don't harm me, because I'm not a child. I can say Boros charm is a great card, and it means the same thing and everyone knows that. Speaking of which, the disk interaction is absurd, and is my first and foremost post-GTC goal.

It's not about words harming you. It's about words harming others. If you were actually not a child, you would not have a problem with changing your language to avoid hurting others. It's not difficult.

A. Don't want to take life advice from Chapin? Fine. Inform yourself through the wealth of online literature on the subject. Dismissing the messenger doesn't take away from what is a very real issue.
B. Just because you are coping fine with your experience does not give you the right to treat those affected like their lives haven't somehow been ruined by it, or that they aren't suffering through it on a daily basis.
C. Publicly defending your use of trigger words in a moderated forum is a quick and easy way to get yourself infracted. Check out how quickly posters get modded for using similar words like gay or retarded inappropriately. You don't care that words matter, but this forum does.
On topic: I think I'm ready to come round on Boros Charm. It pulls double duty as a walker-killer; it's a combat trick that comes with backup options; it's a Rebuff the Wicked that can turn a blocking army or a sweeper into a one-sided board wipe. I was hoping for more than a charm in this section, but it definitely looks good enough.

This is an incredibly foolish and insensitive post. Even if the first part wasn't, you go ahead and make sure to clear yourself of any decency by insinuating that anyone who has a problem with such language must be a child. There are as many reasons for someone else having a problem with it as there are for you not having those issues.

Yeah, guess the rest of my point wasn't clear
Was saying that defending your creatures will be that part of the charm's primary function. The other permanents will come up less frequently (due to the nature of boros) but when it does, the value can be game breaking.
i don't get the idea that this card and wrath/geddon/wildfire don't go in the same deck. they do. the only deck this isn't good in is very creature-light control. even control decks run utility guys, walls, etc. and every deck can take advantage of the best two options.

Now, if there would be a good card for Orzhov, Gruul, Simic, and Dimir... I'm not that hopeful, though.
