Yeah, mine's above 4 too, from memory. I certainly wouldn't worry about breaking the mythical 4CC average.
Gotta love the white primordial... imagine it in a white/blue control build next to Venser!
Try putting Dead-Eye Navigator into that equation instead. Sooooooo broken. I swear Navigator is one of the best blue cards ever. Of the two primordials spoiled so far, I really like the blue primordial. That guy will be so good in EDH where Chancellor of the Spires is already a damn good card.
We talked about adding Conjurer's Closet to add to value-town decks. It and Venser are both really solid includes.
Yeah, mine's above 4 too, from memory. I certainly wouldn't worry about breaking the mythical 4CC average.
Because this made me check...
Not counting my land, I'm at 3.92.
That's because a) when I initially constructed the cube all I had to go off for an example of a curve was a 1vs1 version, and b) I think I can stand to add more fat stuff.
I'm really digging the primordial cycle too, but am horrified at having to clear space for all five. Maybe the white one can be excluded? I'm also not sure yet that the black one and the new Lord of the Void aren't competing for roughly the same slot.
I think there is enough room in black to add both Lord of the Void and the Primordial. White's fatties, on the other hand, are super stacked. I was also thinking that the white Primordial might be a hard include.

Agreed, I'm already trying to fit Sun Titan into my white top end. Yeesh.
What do we think of Merciless Eviction? Wonderfully flexible or overly expensive?
Orzhov is probably weak enough that this gets a long look anyway.
Sorry for the insanely large post here, but I have some tough decisions to make in coming days... just about all of the GTC guilds looks like rubbish in my cube right now, so I have some big-time changes to make (bar perhaps Simic, which at least runs four solid cards for me ATM)...
Now that we know most of the bomb guild cards from GTC, what would you be running in each of the guilds? I'm trying to get to six for Gruul and Dimir, and five for Simic, Boros and Orzhov.
I'm leaning towards bringing in Ajani, Glory of Warfare and Nobilis from decks.
Gisela and Aurelia are likely too mana-intensive.
Not sure if I want to keep Spitemare in my cube or not.
Perhaps add Aurelia's Fury (if I can get one) and Firemane Avenger?
There are some real bombs here, but they're all 5-6CC with not much support behind them. I'm thinking I should keep Wrexial in my cube, and then go for Sygg, Infiltrator, Havengul, Nightveil and Aberration? All creatures there, though... man, Dimir's spells suck.
I pretty much need to turn my entire Gruul section over. I can bring in Fires and Mage Slayer straight away, and am trading for BBE. Sarkhan and Huntmaster are probably out of my budget, and Borbor is probably close to uncastable in cube.
So I'm guessing the last three should probably be Dragon Broodmother, Clan Defiance and maybe Signal the Clans for a bit of fun?
This one has be in a bit of turmoil. My playgroup genuinely likes Vish Kal, Death Grasp and Unmake (all of which aren't on here). Sorin and Vindicate are outside of my budget. Debtors' Knell duplicates the Grave Betrayal I'm already cubing. Deathpact and Obzedat are probably too mana-intensive.
Maybe I keep my four and add Treasury Thrull? This one's tough.
No question that Sorin and Vindicate should be here, though.
Finally, a guild I have well-represented in my own cube. I just need to add one, and I think it's between Fathom Mage and Spitting Image. Probably the Mage, given that she dances fairly nicely with Vig.
Which means I think I'm adding the following guild cards from GTC...
No decisions have been made about which if any will get included though.
Lazav and Zegana will probably be put into the Generals section.
I'm willing to see the rest of the set though before I make any real decisions.
Merciless Eviction is hard to judge without testing, but I imagine it makes it.
Yeah, good call... I meant to throw that on my list.
I'm probably not going to consider it personally, mostly because I've probably got enough sweepers already, and one of them is Austere Command.
Yeah, good call... I meant to throw that on my list.
I'm probably not going to consider it personally, mostly because I've probably got enough sweepers already, and one of them is Austere Command.
I'm really looking forward to playing with Eviction, because it combines two of my favorite sweepers - Final Judgment and Austere Command.
I'm currently running 9 cards per color pair. This includes my fixing. Each color has its ABU Dual, Shockland, Fetchland, and Shadowmoor Filter. Each non-green color pair also has its signet. The remainder are:
I'm also currently considering increasing my cube's size by 50% to support a 12-player draft (3 tables of 4 instead of 2). If I were to do this, I would increase each guild by 5 cards - 1 Painland, 1 M10/Innistrad "Check" Land, and 3 other cards. Coming up with those cards for some of the guilds is kind of tricky, however. Here's what I've got so far:
One thing to keep in mind is that this is for an EDH Cube, not a standard multiplayer cube. This means that:
A) Some cards like SSS, Finkel, and Skybreaker seem like they aren't high-impact enough
B) There's no legends in these sections, as the legends are in their own Commander section. (BTW, I've found Vig to be tremendously disappointing, and will be replacing him with Zegana as soon as I can)

That's my main discontent about that topic ... Melee / Free For All Cubes are very different from 2HG Cubes and EDH Cubes. Makes it complicated to give relevant answers to some questions.
Yeah, the problem is that there's like, three active EDH Cubes (mine, Dolono's, and Theogony IX/Lost Condottiere's), and we're already up in each other's threads all the time. I'm not sure what the state of the Multiplayer Cubes is, but I imagine it's not too much better. By combining our knowledge, which has some overlap, we can hopefully help each other grow.

Yeah, I'm getting valuable information here from time to time, but often when I feel like replying to someone, I just don't know whether poster wants feedback about 2HG / FFA / EDH Cube, and for some cards the answer would be fairly different.
Well, in the future I will preface my posts with "This is for EDH Cube".

Ah, derp - that makes entire sense as to why none of the legends were there! Should've picked that one!
Yeah, Vig as a general would force you to go Simic really hard. I find him good as a tutor on legs if you've drafted some decent green fatties - repeatable tutoring is a very good thing. That said, he is going to take a while to get online, works a lot better with exclusively-Simic critters, and is still a creature at the end of the day. Zegana may very well prove better card advantage.
Re: the rest, yeah, Skybreaker and Finkel are on the "dunno if these quite make the cut, but they're close" list. SSS has fallen off the list for you guys now? I know it was fairly close to no longer being a top-five card in traditional cubes, but it still sees some love in mine.
Multiplayer is myself, Blind_Piper, lplaat, Miaou and a few others floating in and out (along with a couple of others being developed, and Humpty's cube, which has a "multiplayer addendum"). I'm actually getting an increasing number of queries from people wanting to develop MP cubes, so it's certainly growing.
(Srsly, go check out Miaou's cube... it's new, and it's what I want mine to get to)
Appending the posts is probably a good idea. I know we overlap a fair bit in which cards are good where, but it does make a difference (like when the MP guy wonders why all the Legends are missing)!

Yeah, in an EDH Cube, I just don't see Simic Sky Swallower making the cut. EDH is a crazy format, to the point where expensive fat with no other purpose is rarely even close to viable. Just having shroud + evasion is not enough to push this guy over the top - even Akroma, Angel of Wrath is only "okay".
In a regular multiplayer cube, sure. 6/6 deals probably a third of someone's life once pings like fetches and shocks are taken into account. When people are walking around with 40 starting life, that 6 damage is really minor.
Looking at the five UG cards I currently run and the 3 additional ones I'm considering:
1) Mystic Snake is amazing. The sheer power he provides with blink and bounce effects like Deadeye Navigator and Crystal Shard is bonkers.
2) Alchemist's Refuge - Nonbasics are great because they're often "free" picks that don't take up deck space. The power to play anything as an instant is huge in UG decks, especially if you can get out Seedborn Muse
3) Spitting Image - It's a little pricey for a clone, but the fact that it can turn every future land draw into another clone is majorly powerful.
4) Trigon Predator - Sometimes, little guys go the distance. Providing a free Naturalize every swing on an evasive body can be very disruptive
5) Voidslime - It's nothing too splashy, but it is a solid counter that can muck up a lot of plans. This is easily my least favorite of the initial 5.
6) Fathom Mage - There's a lot of fat that gets thrown around in EDH, meaning it's very easy to trigger this guy 4-7 times over the course of a few turns. In doing so, you generate a huge amount of card advantage.
7) Biomass Mutation - Honestly, I'm not sure between this and Master Biomancer (and I could see kicking Voidslime or Bairn out and running both). It's a poweful Overrun effect, and that's definitely earned it a look
8) Gilder Bairn - Mostly something I'd like to include to support Planeswalkers, though he does play pretty well with Fathom Mage and some other Counter generators.
Now, if I were recommending for a normal Multiplayer Cube, I'd probably suggest
Edric is great, especially in regular multiplayer. Zegana is nuts, but her high price places her behind Snake and Edric. SSS sneaks in at #6 on account of his size, and Shardless comes in behind him due to more spells he can Cascade into in a non-EDH cube. Oracle brings up the rear as a decent value creature who's just not high-impact enough for EDH (though I might consider him over Bairn on my own list tbh).

As for the Simic cards, I'm not qualified to comment on EDH. However for MP, I feel both Shardless Agent and Coiling Oracle are weak. I would rate Biomantic Mastery over both (expensive, but allows for card draw in green) and probably Spitting Image too. The bodies are so small I don't think they contribute to much.

Mastery costs an awful lot, and it doing things depends on the board having dudes on it. Based off of the Divination->Concentrate->Tidings scale, a 7 mana spell should probably draw you a minimum of 6 cards. The other problem is that it's so expensive that you'll rarely be able to use cards drawn with it in the same turn, meaning if it isn't used on an empty or near-empty hand, you'll often have to discard. (Also, for an EDH Cube, being U/G hybrid means it can only be used in UG, not in mono-G. If you want mono-G draw, look at Harmonize. Collective Unconscious also provides this effect in mono-G)
Also, when you compare it with Recurring Insight, which costs less and very frequently draws more, it seems kind of lackluster.

If you play Biomantic Mastery smartly enough in Multiplayer, you're pretty much picking your deck up. So in that regard, it's very much a gamble card (i.e. gambling that you can make it to that much mana, and that you won't deck out before you win). Very much a combo-support card in MP, in that you want to use it to pick up all your pieces at once and combo out for the win on the spot (before you deck out). Spitting Image has been voted in by my group - I'm intrigued to see how it goes in my cube, as it's rocking a lot of Populate shenanigans already. Mimic Vat has been supreme, so I suspect the Image will be good too. That said, I certainly have a cube doctored in its general direction to begin with, so if it's ever going to work well in a cube, it should be mine.
After reading your comment Wildfire, I realized that the card is a sorcery not an instant. That does make it lose a lot of its appeal.
In non-cube games, it still has been decent for me though.
Spitting Image is a very solid card in multiplayer. Being able to repeatedly match the best creature on the table (or remove it if it is legendary) is a very effective tactic lategame.
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less." -Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass

Yeah, the legend-removal aspect is pretty underrated. I imagine late-game repeatable legend removal would be especially valuable in EDH.
Has anyone tried a Peasant Multiplayer cube? I've got one constructed and have played out of it a few times. We only have a few drafts in, but one thing that has popped out at us is that Red is considerably stronger in that cube than standard Multiplayer cubes, as Red and Black are the only colors that have access to sweepers.

Dimir: No love for Shadowmage Infiltrator?
Rakdos: I'd throw Lightning Reaver in somehow. Wonderful card.
Simic: None of my current four are here - Edric, Vig, Overbeing and SSS are all worthy of a slot. About the only one of the four I've seen people argue about is Vig, but I find him worthy.

1) Edric, Spymaster of Trest
2) Mystic Snake
3) Prime Speaker Zegana
4) Alchemist's Refuge
5) Trygon Predator
6) Simic Sky Swallower
7) Shardless Agent
8) Coiling Oracle
Edric is great, especially in regular multiplayer. Zegana is nuts, but her high price places her behind Snake and Edric. SSS sneaks in at #6 on account of his size, and Shardless comes in behind him due to more spells he can Cascade into in a non-EDH cube. Oracle brings up the rear as a decent value creature who's just not high-impact enough for EDH (though I might consider him over Bairn on my own list tbh).

It is untested as I still need to acquire a few of the cards, but it is almost done.

In non-cube games, it still has been decent for me though.

Yeah, the legend-removal aspect is pretty underrated. I imagine late-game repeatable legend removal would be especially valuable in EDH.

Honestly it's probably better in non-EDH because of the fact that non-blue decks can run it, but it certainly is good.
