Certainly in slower cubes (like Multiplayer and EDH), the fact that they're single shot makes them pretty much unplayable. You want the effect to be repeatable there.
For that reason, the cards that probably come up as recommended there are Mirari and Echo Mage (with a nod to the new Melek, Izzet Paragon, who looks cute, but is likely too expensive to cast).
I'm much more interested in Misdirection-effects than Fork effects...and I think the only one I run is indeed Misdirection. It seems much better to me to effectively steal a card than to simply copy it. I'd rather have a slightly more narrow effect that generates advantage than one that simply creates parity.
Wild Ricochet is a blowout, but when leaving mana up for these kinds of effects, it's really common for the opponent just to play a dude and you haven't accomplished anything.
