I consider Prime Time to be a staple, people saying to cut it every time a green creature is printed seem really silly. It makes it really easy to go over the top in most cube games when it enters the battlefield.
bramblecrush seems loose, why do you want it anyways?
I agree with the bramblecrush cut, but I assume it is in there to give green an out to planeswalkers. That cube seems to run a high density of PW, so I get the choice. I ran it until recently but it was one mana too much or a dead card so Beast Within got the spot. Frankly no one in my group would draft it even when they whined about PWs.
Hello everyone, here I started Cubber not long ago and I have to touch for more than 1 month (waiting for an order on eBay), go on: I'll order from Lightake, this famous website where everyone command, cheap but long. So I'll spend a big order and I'd like to know what to take (not to have to order in 4-5 months etc..) I have already ordered the Dayan So Guhong is what I have to take Zhanchi? In DIY or directly assemble? (I never assemble all my life) The ShengShou? Then I would test 4x4x4 or 5x5x5, good idea? cubes coming out of the ordinary, that nobody has ever seen etc. .. Here thank you for your suggestions!
Is he talking about a Rubix Cube?
Jokes aside - I'm testing kalonian hydra this wknd over Primordial Hydra, which only gets to the same size if dropped on turn 2 with an elf.

I would start by making a post in the general cube discussion forum:
I think it's a fine card, but it's usually a filler card, and not a role-player. It'll play well any time you maindeck it, but it's not a card you're going to be hoping to open. If you play green control decks, I'd certainly keep it. But if most of your builds are green midrange/ramp (and/or Stompy aggro) I think it's a cuttable card.
I like Krosan Tusker most because of potential as a reanimation target. Playing it to get the fifth mana for Living Death is great. It has some value in other decks but I think I'd cut it if I didn't support reanimator quite heavily.

I still really like tusker. It is kind of an instant speed uncounterable divination in green that can set up reanimation stuff if your deck swings that way. I don't really consider it a creature so much as a spell that can sometimes have a bonus life as a creature. It isn't anything special but I feel like it is solid enough in the role it plays that I am not close to cutting it.

I don't think that I would cube an instant uncounterable divination in any color let alone green. For me he is getting the cut for the new elf, but the reason I brought him up here is that turns 3-4, when you would be reanimating the tusker are the same turn I would be ramping into this new hydra. I know which I would rather be doing.
Even if I was playing a reanimator the tusker seems too durdly to me. 6/5 vanilla on turn 4 after some hoops and doing nothing on board is not so exciting anymore. Only my simic ramp decks really like what he offers. The Golgari reanimators are going for Lotleth troll and Wild Mongrel instead. But I don't play Living death.
I love the Tusker; It's one of my favorite green creatures. I know it's not really a win card, but it just gives you so much utility on a single card. If I need more land to help ramp, or when you need a relevant card on your draw step he is awesome. And sometimes his body is extremely relevant if there is a board stall, or you just need that extra push. Tusker is just the perfect glue guy for some green decks.
I also just pulled the Hydra, and have been extremely pleased with him. While he typically is just a huge beater, the other interactions he brings are awesome. The other day someone went turn 4 Hydra and followed that up by a turn 5 Prime Speaker Zegana. It also feels so nice to play a Knight of the Reliquary or Lotleth Troll knowing this guys about to come out! Def. staying in my cube for a while

Unpowered Cube, work in progress, but getting there!
Intelligent back-and-forth as usual guys, thanks. I think Tusker is on the chopping block for me. His body almost never matters. Sometimes both players are exhausted, and out of removal by the time he shows, but that's rare. More often he's just a draw spell. I'd much rather have dedicated ramp or dedicated draw. With the inclusion of Elvish Mystic, my ramp is pretty well set up. So that leaves draw. I have to think there are better choices in green/blue if that's what I'm after. I do run plenty of re-animation, but not Living Death. When I do reanimate something, it has to be amazing out of the 'yard, not a vanilla 6/5. As soon as I score a Hydra, Tusker is going to leave.
It may be leftfield, but Mwonvuli Acid-Moss is an often overlooked ramp option that is also very disruptive, fixes colour, and puts you way ahead on lands compared to your opponent. I loved it at 450, a lot more than Tusker, and I would be open to reincluding it at 360 in the future. LD and ramp in a single package is very strong and although either ramp, fixing or LD can be redundant depending on the game state, it is extremely rare that all three are. Green can also accelerate into it very easily which can leave you with huge amounts of mana at a relevant point in the game with an opponent on two or three lands. If looking to cut Tusker but wanting something different from Cultivate or Rampant Growth, it's a solid option.
Great post, I really like the card. Maybe I would prefer Ice Storm to it, but it looks solid for all you said.
Currently I don't have room for it at 450, but a 540 cube with Ice Storm and Acid-Moss looks great.
I tried a package of Ice Storm, Acid Moss, Plow Under, Stunted Growth, Beast Within, Bramblecrush, Acidic Slime, and Desert Twister for a while. It was nice for a while but outside of the times that I could pick up all the ramp mono-green disruption didn't quite get there.
I still run the slime, plow under, and beast within. They are either flexible or nasty(Plow Under). Stunted growth was really good mana times but is a pale shadow to plow so it is going for the Hydra.
I might give acid moss a try again now that I have added another elf. Whenever I cast it turn two or turn three on the play it was gross, so I will try it over the tusker.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.

I think Tusker is very close to that. It ensures one of the cards you draw is a basic land of your choice (fixing your mana and guaranteeing you resources), and it's also uncounterable. In addition, it drops a big creature into your 'yard when you do so, it can be tutored by cards that fetch creatures, and it can be hardcast as a win-con in a pinch. I'd say that's significantly better than an instant speed Divination. It's also in a color without access to better draw spells. I don't currently play Tusker in my list, but I'd cube it WAY before that blue spell.
I'd cut Bramblecrush for the new Hydra if you're looking for a spot to test it for a while.

That is my feeling about a lot of green beaters. If I can just get something huge with trample down fast enough. (And have an elf to sac to Lliana)
I do keep beast within for the off decks that need that kind of insurance and for the occasional mono-green decks that show up in my group.
But if we keep getting things like hydra...... Lightning greaves existing is reason enough to run this guy.

A 7x7x7 cube is about the right size IMO. That's 343 cards.

Yes. It's not the first Rubix Cube spam post we've seen on these boards either.

Really? I'm pretty sure it would be a staple in blue. I think there's a reason they've never printed that card.
