Okay, I know 5 mana is a lot, but this has some cool interactions going for it. It triggers a ETB, LTB, or dies trigger of a creature you already control, and brings back another creature from your graveyard, all at instant speed. It also comboes well with temporary stealing effects (I'm looking at you Act of Aggression, Vedalken Shackles), stealing them permanently upon your next upkeep. Thoughts?
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
I think it's just too expensive. The flavor is off the charts, though.
My thoughts exactly. 5 is just too much. It protects your creature from removal, is a reanimation spell and enables blink strategies, but even so, I don't think it's good enough.
I think this is one of the cards which prove that a set based on top-down designs could work. I'm not 100% sold on that yet, but man this is a good one.

Innistrad was a top down block, and it was very successful.
I meant sold on it for this block. Innistrad was a huge success; what it was based on is etched very firmly in the minds of people (from western countries, at least). I'm not sold on a top-down set based on Greek mythology, since it's a weaker story; I have much fewer emotional connections to it. Horror was much easier for me to grasp.
Rescue did, though. It's one of the things about greek mythology I know about, and it was executed very well. I hope there are more of those, cause right now it's more a bunch of cards than stories.
To each his own. I quite like older gothic fiction but much of the horror genre I find to be boring, camp, unpleasant or a combination of all three. I have been steeped in classical mythology, however, and I'm impressed so far by how much this set seems to have got right. Though I suspect the sex will be left out: WotC have no problem depicting violence, but many classical Gods and heroes were very badly behaved.

Would be so fun to sac Reveillark to this. The cost is to much to be able to set up the ability (you must hae worthwhile ETB and Leaves Battefileld to maximize it).
I am on the fence about it. Flavor, enabling, archetype support, strategy to play. I may shift my philosophy of cube-building more towards "I enjoy these cards" rather than "this is the most efficient card to include". At 5 mana, it's just a tad too much. If it were 4 mana, it would be broken. 5 is tame and in many ways acceptable. Again, this could be included as a "subpar" choice and I wouldn't mind seeing it in packs.

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
I think I like Victimize a bit more if you're looking for something like this, but like qq said it's amazingly flavorful.
Victimize can't be used to dodge removal / wrath effects, though... so at least there's that. This is also my favorite of all the spoilers because of how cool/flavorful it is.
That said, next upkeep return clause means that it takes a full extra turn before these creatures can attack... Severely limits what kind of decks would want to run this.
Can't be used for surprise blockers, can't be used at their endstep for surprise attackers unless they're hasty. Still seems like a pretty fun inclusion that's close to good enough.
Anyone know the rules interaction with a creature that gets exiled from a yard after this resolves targetting it?

Is this because you don't know the story of Prometheus? The card resonates pretty hard with anyone who knows greek mythology.
Don't know it, no. It's pretty obvious from the design that it's something famous, but I can see it and not feel it. And I think that the general populace knows horror better than they know Greek mythology.

In Greek mythology, Prometheus (Greek: Προμηθεύς, pronounced [promɛːtʰeús]) is a Titan, culture hero, and trickster figure who is credited with the creation of man from clay, and who defies the gods and gives fire to humanity (theft of fire), an act that enabled progress and civilization. He is known for his intelligence and as a champion of mankind.[1]
The punishment of Prometheus as a consequence of the theft is a major theme of his mythology, and is a popular subject of both ancient and modern art. Zeus, king of the Olympian gods, sentenced the Titan to eternal torment for his transgression. The immortal Prometheus was bound to a rock, where each day an eagle, the emblem of Zeus, was sent to feed on his liver, which would then grow back to be eaten again the next day. (In ancient Greece, the liver was thought to be the seat of human emotions.)[2] In some stories, Prometheus is freed at last by the hero Heracles (Hercules).

Take Chained to the Rocks for example. It doesn't "resonate" (using one of Rosewater's buzzwords) with me in the same way Ludevic's Test Subject or Screeching Bat did.

Nice flavor: underworld = graveyard for Theros.
