Had my first play experience with this guy last night. The worst I saw him do was make 2 bodies, which happened once. The other four times I saw him hit he made between 3 and 7. The guy who was playing him managed to live the dream and build an ideal UUw tempo deck with Master, Thassa, Opposition, and all the other usual suspects. The deck was scary.
This strikes me as a worse colored Precursor Golem without any positive combo potential, making smaller guys, and sometimes making less guys.
At worse its Precursor Golem, but Golem itself can be a game ender if you support it with Giant Growth effects, etc. I'd definitely would use it to replace one of my numerous blue instants/sorceries as blue doesn't have many mid-range creatures that serve as finishers. Opposition, Earthcraft, and other combo effects just make him much greater.
This guy has really proven to pull his weight in tempo decks. If you play a UU tempo package with the 2 and 3-drop UU guys, I highly recommend giving this guy a go.
So far, the experiment has been a success. Adding in the blue devotion tempo package has doubled the number of competitive blue tempo decks we can create, and the heavy-hitting cards that were absent before that really made me want to support the deck were gifted to us over the last two sets. Between Master of Waves, Thassa, God of the Sea and True-Name Nemesis, the reasons to move into the deck are present, and the justification for cards like Æther Adept, Coralhelm Commander, and even cards like Kira, Great Glass-Spinner have surfaced. Before those three really powerful cards were available, there wasn't enough of a reason for me to want to play the "tier-2" UU tempo cards, but man... that deck is nasty with the new guys' presence in the mix.
540 Peasant cube- Gold EditionSomething SpicyWell look at that, the whole ordeal is even better than I thought.

Both are very much under construction. Please stop by and talk about it!
