All gods become creatures when their devotion to Color A and Color B is higher than 7.
They all still have indestructibility and they have one static or triggered ability, but no activated ability.
The green one is the only one to consider imho. It has the potential to get rid of of most threats without dying itself. But none of the cards really make me want to include them...
What a hugely disappointing round of fatties. I was hoping for some good big dudes, and those are all beyond terrible.
The green one is missing one important word: Trample. Without it, who cares about the ability? It would've been far better as a 4/4 with trample and Tribute 4. That would actually give your opponent a difficult decision to make. And even then, how good would it really be? It would still be a 6-mana Flametongue variant (in its BCS!) or a 6cc dude your opponent can just let resolve with the extra counters and just blast it with removal. Yuck.
None of these cards have gotten me excited in the least except for Sphinx, though I don't think it's playable. I'm excited for the inspiration mechanic. An untap trigger subtheme doesn't seem like it would be all that difficult to support in cube.
This is really painful, we finally get spoilers and pretty much every source I can find is either in spanish or blocked by my work's filters and I'm not gonna be home for a good few days. At least the majority of the spoiler should be out before I'm back offshore next time.
They're prerelease promos, so I'm not sure what people were expecting. They're supposed to be finishers for sealed that showcase some of the new mechanics. Anyone expecting a cube-worthy card to come from them is bound to be disappointed.
I think Inspiration and Tribute are cool mechanics, so I'm interested to see what else they do with them.

Pretty much this, I think due to the new Sealed system of giving people the card to play in their sealed decks, they'll mostly be finishers for that format and will probably be on the side of cards like Celestial Archon so I don't think we'll be seeing too many cubeworthy cards out of those cards.
Spoilers start on Monday, so we don't have too much longer to wait for more spoilers. A pretty rough start so far since Kiora's the only good one, but there should be some good stuff coming (and there's definitely some room for some good cards with the mechanics, a card with good base stats could be a good Tribute creature. Apparently there was/is a Shriekmaw-esque whale non-flier in blue somewhere in the block [which was tested with Kiora] so I'm wondering if that's a tribute thing but that's a stretch.)
Inspiration and Tribute look neat. If they have a cycle of instants that let you do extra things (scry) if cast on your turn that could be neat as well. Tribute looks like it could lead to some very interesting game states, which is what I try to do in cube. The green guy looks like it could be very good, and he isn't competing with much at the 6cc slot in green (basically only Prime Titties)

This. There is no way a modern pre release promo is going to be strong enough to be cube worthy.
That red card might be fine in bigger cubes if only it could hit players.
Oh, I meant since they started doing the whole pick a color thing. I mean, wurmcoil was a promo too. But I can't see them printing a card at that power level as long as there are 5 promos since it would make that promo just dominate the others.
I don't think Wolfir is a staple. I can definitely see debate for Zealous Conscripts, though.
I wouldn't be surprise if we saw a promo staple again. Wizards mention times and again they don't really care much for keeping power level in the "cycle" to be the same level.

Sure, but a lot of cube staples are also money cards. I doubt they'd want to make you feel like you had to pick white cause it was a $25 card or something. I mean, it's possible, but I just doubt we'll see promo staples unless we go back to the 1 promo per set or the card is a surprise staple.
Edit - And this is in addition to the fact that, while I am sure they don't care if the power level is perfectly even, they don't want to give white serra avatar and black grave titan, for example. I imagine they still want them to be reasonably close.
How often is a seven mana wrath going to be relevant? Scry is neat, but I would rather have the ability to cast Rout for cheaper, because sometimes you need to clear the board now.
My own guess on the rest of this cycle, which seems to have a creature + planeswalker clause and triple colored mana in their cost:
2GGG
Instant
Target creature gets +3/+3 until end of turn. It fights target creature or planeswalker you don't control. If it's your turn, Scry 2.
2BBB
Instant
Return target creature or planeswalker from any graveyard to the battlefield under your control. If it's your turn, Scry 2.
2UUU
Instant
Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a creature card and a planeswalker card. Put them into your hand, then put all other cards revealed this way on the bottom of your library at random. If it's your turn, Scry 2.
That would be a great wrath at 6 mana. 7 mana is a lot. It's like a Rout without the option of casting it at 5. I know it hits 'walkers too and Scrys when you cast it on your turn, but 7 mana is too steep.
These are both good cards, but I don't think either are staples. I don't cube either of them at 450. Conscripts is close, but the Silverheart is a few excluded cards deep right now.
I love silverheart, but I know it's not for everyone. That said these cards are 2 or 3 levels down. I think ember swallower is as close as we will get for a prerelease promo as long as they do one a color. I just look and see the 6-7 mana cost and say next. I have a high top end but these cards are not likely even if I ran a 1000 card cube.
I like having a higher level of wraths available and I am still playing rout so I might try this one out. I like the instant speed and hitting PWs idea and the scry 2 is a nice bit of conditional gravy.
Word on the street is that there's going to be a new Dark Confidant with an Inspiration (untap) trigger. Someone says they saw it on an FNM thing at their store as a 2/2 for 1B with Inspiration - Whenever ~ becomes untapped, reveal the top card of your library and put it into your hand. You lose life equal to that card's converted mana cost.
It's not quite Bob but it's certainly a powerful card if true.

I'd personally consider ZC a staple at any sized Cube. No other card can turn around games like it can. It creates amazing Cube stories AND is super powerful. Just an amazing card.
I think Wolfir Silverheart is very good & underrated by a lot of people (including me before I tested it). Not sure where it slots as far as Cube sizes but I run it at 540 & likely would at 450.
7 mana for a wrath seems like a lot, even with all the goodies. Maybe if we had the Rout option of 3WW and paying 1W to make it instant speed or something.
Huh, didn't know there was that much debate over those two. I can see Wolfir being an acquired taste, but it does win a lot of games you should have no business winning. Conscripts remains great for me, in spite of the now-solid red options at 5, due to the planeswalker-hosing ability and fun factor.
That wrath, if true, doesn't even feel particularly close for me. Seven mana with heavy white is too much for a Rout without the ability to cast it at 5 mana, and since cube control loves its planeswalkers, that clause is often a downgrade.

I actually play Silverheart before, and I don't think he' 360 material by any mean, and I do own a 360 cube.
Zealous Conscripts is great, and I think of it as second best 5 drop behind Thundermaw Hellkite.

The others aren't even close. The untap effect of the sphinx is pretty good, but god is it slow.

Not always true. Zealous Conscripts and Wolfir Silverheart are staples. That said, the point stands for most other sets.
