I wanted to start a discussion about this, I've played with Heartless Hidegetsu and the kind of punisher strategies that is able to be played. Sulfuric Vortex among others, but pushing red and black into these directions for a Cube have they been useful? I'm feeling it may very well be a decent identity for red/black.

Life is a beautiful engineer, yet a brutal scientist.
1) 'Punisher' has a very specific meaning. See Vexing Devil and Browbeat. In a very aggressive deck they can work, when taking damage directly is not an option, but you require a lot of copies and redundancy and they haven't worked out well for cubers, although not to say they won't in the future.
2) Sulfuric Vortex and Heartless Hidetsugu seem only to deal damage directly to a player as a common theme. If that's your goal, there are probably cards we can find that do something similar and may fit into an aggro strategy similar to the Vortex. Hidetsugu is weird, expensive and fragile and I wouldn't recommend him.
