(This seems better as its own topic, rather than as part of the discussion on wedge cards. Should a mod feel differently, please feel free to merge.)
I want to re-add one card of each three-color wedge. Before, no one drafted them, but my cube is 540 now, so I figure I can support them.
Along with the wedge cards, I want to add more support for multicolored cards in the lands section. I'm thinking of adding the ten ETB-tapped tri-lands (the Arcane Sanctum family from Alara and the Mystic Monastery family from Khans). If I do that, I don't want the lands section of my cube to blow up, so I would need to make some replacements. Here are my current cycles in the land section:
As part of adding the 10 wedge cards, I'm going to trim at least 15 cards from my existing multicolor section. That means I could cut 5 lands to add the 10 tri-lands and maintain the same number of cards.
So... are the tri-lands worth adding to support the 3-color wedges? And if so, which lands are the best to remove?
If the wedge cards I'm adding in weren't awesome tribrid cards that are easy to cast and make room for, I would've championed for Trilands to go in alongside them. But since a full cycle of "3 color" cards can be included by only including 1-2 cards that are actually meant for 3-color decks, I think it's okay to pass on these lands still.
However, if the tri-color section is more than 1 card deep per shard-wedge and/or your tri-color section is filled with cards that actually play like 3-color cards, then I think the cycle is reasonable to include. They're solid lands.
Heh, I like the term "tribrid." Probably half of the wedge cards I add will be those. The others will be the more traditional three-color cards. Currently, I plan to add only one card per wedge.
Filter lands are probably my least favorite cycle. Painlands are really viable options for the #4 cycle if you're not building your own cycles past the 3 good ones.
I don't really like to get married to whole cycles. A Temple is better in blue/black than, for example, a Scars land, so I have Temple of Deceit. Black/white is in my cube a deck that has a lot of difficult mana costs - double white and double black - so I like having Fetid Heath. Green/white has access to Horizon Canopy, which I think is better than any of the other alternatives for that color combination, so I run that. And I think Battlefield Forge is the best land for red/white.
So yeah, I guess I like mixing it up based on which lands I think work out best in that particular color. Of course, I also have all 10 fetches, shocks, and duals, and I also have all five manlands. The rest, though, are incomplete cycles.
In a 540 cube like yours, trilands are probably not needed but are a good inexpensive option to hold down the fort until you acquire a more long term answer. Between the filter lands, pain lands, checklands and the temples there are better ways to fill your land slots. And yeah, land cycles are a bit of a trap so mix and match between what's left the best way you think possible and adjust from there.
I have the Shards tri-lands in my Multiplayer 360, with Do Not Remove status, thanks to my playgroup.
My cube is somewhat gold--heavy, and the deck-building almost always strays into three colours. My group found the tri-lands so helpful in their deck-building that when I began to put Fetches and Shocks in the cube, they asked me to expand the land section and drop the Signets to make room.
My land section is 40 wide nowadays - 10 Fetches, 10 Shocks, 10 Core/Innistrad Duals, 5 Shards Trilands and 5 utility (currently Terramorphic / KWR / Sunhome / Rogue's Passage / Unholy Grotto).

If I do that, I don't want the lands section of my cube to blow up, so I would need to make some replacements. Here are my current cycles in the land section:
- 10 original dual lands
- 10 fetch lands (Bloodstained Mire, et al)
- 10 shocklands
- The 5 Scars allied-color 2-color lands (Seachrome Coast, et al)
- The 5 Worldwake man-lands (Celestial Colonnade, et al)
- The 5 enemy-color painlands (Battlefield Forge, et al -- note that my CubeTutor list doesn't yet reflect this; it still shows enemy-color Temples)
- One land of each "color," which I have in the individual colors' sections: Academy Ruins, Barbarian Ring, Gaea's Cradle, Kor Haven, and Volrath's Stronghold.
- 15 good lands, including things like Library of Alexandria, City of Brass, Reflecting Pool, etc.

I used to write for MTGS, including Cranial Insertion and cube articles. Good on you if you can find those after the upgrade.

I don't run trilands though.
