So I've been looking through some older cards and came upon these "hidden gems"
The main problem with the Hiddens is that your opponent controls when their trigger happens.
However I think Hidden Gibbons, Hidden Guerrillas (in power cubes) and Hidden Herd look promising. Has anyone tried any of these cards in cube? And which one do you think is best?
1 mana for for a 4/4, 5/3 or 3/3 is a pretty good deal.
I remember these from Urza's block Limited. They we completely unplayable except maybe from the sideboard, and I can't see how they'd be any better in cube. Not only can your opponent control whether or not these cards do anything whatsoever, but they're so narrow that a lot of the time your opponent won't even have the card in their hand that these are supposed to discourage them from casting. The blue versions like Veil of Birds and Veiled Apparition were the best ones because your opponent pretty much had to trigger them in order actually play Magic, but their stats are nowhere near cubeworthy. The white ones that triggered from any creature spell like Opal Caryatid and Opal Gargoyle offered decent stats and eventually triggered, but they're not reliable enough for cube either since we have Isamaru, Hound of Konda and Mistral Charger available.
Based on your other thread, it looks like you're really looking for some good green one drops. I think Basking Rootwalla and Wild Dogs are probably the best ones you're not already running.

Alright, thanks for the feedback. Hidden Herd was obviously weak back in Urza block, but could it be good in cube with most decks running ~50% non-basic lands? In order for the opponent to cast their spells on curve, non-basic fixing lands are often needed early in the game, resulting in them either not playing their spells on curve or giving you a 3/3 for G.
I remember Hidden Gibbons seeing a lot of play in Vintage back in the days of RG hate decks. Other than that, I probably wouldn't touch these cards in any format, they're too dependent on what my opponent is playing.
I don't think most cube decks wind up with anywhere near 50% nonbasic lands, so Hidden Herd will probably be a dead card more often than you want it to be.
