I've seen this in the MTGO cube and occasionally in cubes I draft on cubetutor. The effect is obviously super powerful, but needs either a lot of draw effects or a long game to activate.
I was digging through cards for an EDH deck and found a copy of this I didn't know I had, and I'm thinking of including it.
Do you include it in your cube? Why or why not? What other lands do you include in your blue section?

There are some match ups where it's gross, and others where it's an ETB tapped island. The slower your cube is overall the better shelldock is, and I think with 40 card decks it's still good in faster environments.
This is also a card that's much better with the conspiracy package, as reducing your deck by 5 makes shelldock that much more insane.
I'm the only cuber that doesn't like it. We found it to be too slow in your matchups that matter, and even in the rare cases where it does get activated, you're usually in a good position anyways (control decks that stabilized into the late game). The instances where it played a card for me that A) had an impact on the outcome of the game and B) turned a losing position into a winning one, were incredibly few and far between.
But I should clarify that with a few things. First, we run a glimpse-drafted powered cube ...so decks are both powerful and fast. And second, my playgroup has a high density of players that enjoy drafting aggro decks. Neither of those things help Shelldock Isle reach its full potential. I've played it in larger traditionally-drafted unpowered lists, and it can be a bonkers card in those environments.
I play three other blue-aligned lands. Tolarian Academy, Academy Ruins and Faerie Conclave.
It's a good card, but I think it's quite overrated. It has a pretty high variance. Sometimes you can put a Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker or an Upheaval under it. Sometimes it's a random cantrip spell like Ponder or Impulse.
I think I'll cut Shu-Yun to try it out. That was the one tri-color card I was running in a mono-colored section and was never drafted highly anyway.

I've been playing it for 8 years. Players here love it. Getting "free" spells is very powerful and doesn't even take up a spell slot during deck construction - I do not think I have seen it fail to make a maindeck in a draft yet.

You really can't go wrong cutting tri-cards for mono cards. Other than horribly unplayable cards, it's generally better to have cards that go into more decks as it increases the overall playability of your cube.

Yeah. I run 5 tri-colored cards, but they're in their own section. I've got Soulfire Grandmaster, Tasigur, Alesha, Yasova, and Warden of the First Tree. I think those are all totally playable in lots of decks. Shu-Yun is quite a bit narrower and I don't think I'll miss him at all.
