MTG Salvation

Another promising green four drop out of M20. A big body with flash often translates to removing an attacker, but you would really want to get at least one Wolf token to make this guy worth it. The question is how feasible is that in the average deck that wants him? The closest potential cut for me here would be Polukranos. Trading the wildfire-proof 5/5 body for Flash and potential 3/3s. Outside of the self-contained value, he also plays well with Master of the Wild Hunt, Huntmaster of the Fells, Duskwatch Recruiter, or either of the one drop werewolves. Can throw in a Mayor of Avabruck if you want to get real cute.

Another trap. Pass - you are probably losing if you are actually getting 2/2s generated by this and are in topdeck mode with nothing to cast.

I like it. A 4/4 flash can be worth a card on its own, and if you can spend your mana effectively without casting spells at sorcery-speed, it can generate good free value. Instants, other cards with flash, activating manlands, paying equip costs, leveling up creatures ...activated abilities and mana sinks of any kind ...getting a free 3/3 each turn is no joke. If you can spend mana for at least one turn on non-spell costs, you can easily create 7 power and 2 bodies for 4 mana, and maybe even eat a creature in combat in the process. And you might actually find some tribal interactions in the process too. Green's 4cc creatures aren't great (or deep), so it might be worth a closer look for medium- to large-sized cubes. It's also a cool card with Birthing Pod, since if you pay mana to activate Pod on your turn and put this into play, you haven't cast a spell and you'll get your free 3/3.

Well for one, they would be 3/3s as long as he is still out. But also, couldnt you just play burn spells with this? And considering he has flash, counterspells too. I could see a simic deck playing Mystic Snake also wanting a 4/4 flash blocker that can build a board presence if protected.

Ya. Any instants, any cards with flash and all equip costs/activated abilities. There's a lot of ways to spend your mana.

Idk but this card looks pretty bad to me. Just super slow to get online, and a 4/4 with flash for 4 is well below par with other 4 drops.

I played Yeva for a while and her biggest asset was being a beefy flash body. This wolf has Yeva stats with a better upside in limited. I’m interested.

If you can reliably make Wolfs without having to stall out your game plan I think this is pretty good. Def needs to be build around a bit, but I think it could do good work in my 540. Not sure if it will happen, as I like the fight Hydra more, but I’m hoping I can find space for both.

I think the art looks more like a raccoon than a wolf.

This card looks great if you support a simic flash deck. You get a 4/4 flash for 4 that makes 3/3s every turn with very little downside. Otherwise it's just meh.

Im not too keen on this card. I get that there are ways to play into it so that you don't have to literally do nothing, but I don't play a pod in 360, And Master of the Wild Hunt gives you the same token way more consistently, and doesn't get worse when you actually play magic.

Had a simic deck 3-0 last week off the back of Nightpack Ambusher and Ice-Fang Coatl. Had Torrential Gearhulk, Mystic Snake, UG Nissa, and Crystal Shard (!). Was pretty crazy seeing it in action. The crystal shard protecting the Nightpack or rebuying Snake/Coatl eot was backbreaking for a few matchups. At the end of the night, that player mentioned the Ambusher as their mvp hands down. Playing against it was a trip as turn 3, with an elf down on his side, I didn't know whether to attack in to a potential flash blocker or play around counterspells. And one game it was the Ambusher and one game it turned out to be both (Coatl and Leak.) Dropping a 4/4 blocker on four on the play, then attacking with it their turn while generating a blocker on eot felt insane from the other side of the table. This is, as people expected, the best case shell for the Ambusher, and we will see if it plays as well in other decks, but if you're struggling with your Simic section (or you run Crystal Shard...) I highly recommend this card.

My cube is a bit lower power level than the Salvation average, but not far enough that it wouldn't translate imo.

I've had success with it so far too, in similar builds. It can be really nasty if you can spend your mana at instant speed or on activated abilities.

How has it compared to master of the wild hunt for you? I just made the switch to try it out, but I have not gotten in games with it yet.

I think I like Master more, since it too can run away with games if left unmolested, but requires less build-around. But being Bolt-proof is a nice upside, and the flash can be worth a card if you can eat a creature in combat.

IMO Master has outlived his usefulness and Nightpack Ambusher is a far superior card. Master can definitely run away with games if left unmolested, but he's so darn easy to molest it just never happens.

This is a pretty solid card in limited. It is making my Frontier cube but I definitely do no see this making a powered cube

This card has been great so far. I even got to live the dream once with this, Master of the Wild Hunt and Garruk Relentless out at the same time.

This card is definitely worth testing at 540 and possibly 450.
