Tietastic - The Dimir section goes twelve cards deep since we had two ties. More voter turnout should reduce the likelihood of ties.
Don't have much more to add as I'm burned out from compiling the data but please discuss! I will post the thread for Enemy Guild voting tomorrow morning and will leave it open through Saturday evening to hopefully improve the amount of responses. I would like to shoot for at least 15! After that we just have colorless top 20 voting and then it's a wrap! Thanks for your continued participation!
Ranking by how easy it was to pull this list together. My Dimir section seems to be lacking. I don't even have all the cards I listed. I coulda sworn I had Lim-Dul's Vault in my cube.
Just 1-2 more great Dimir cards and we may never have to argue about Tog or Ashiok again! The last few years have seen several nice contributions to the Dimir Guild...
Without wading into the Psychatog debate too deeply, it's obviously a good card with the classic Upheaval combo, but then gain upheaval combos with tons of cards.
What are the specific use cases for Psychatog that make it busted beyond something cheaper with immediate card advantage like Baleful Strix? I'm not too familiar with the card so I'm sure I'm missing plenty of uses that make it busted in your cube.
Do you run into people turning their Fact or Fiction into a Lava Axe with Psychatog and getting blown own by removal? Or is that pretty uncommon.
Very few creatures that cost 3 mana can end the game in a single swing, but 'Tog does it every draft. 'Tog + a draw 7 usually equals lethal, and with like one bounce or removal spell, it works through blockers too. It's also a discard outlet for graveyard decks, and can be a nightmare to get into combat situations with because the math is hard. People always worry so much about 'Tog being lethal that they forget that it can churn through some unused graveyard cards to kill creatures in combat too, and be valuable in that manner. It's very common for 'Tog to kill someone from like 14+ life out, and there just aren't any creatures that cost 3 mana that can not only do that, but provide a bunch of other utility at the same time.
But none of this information is new. People are in their respective camps and he's been heavily debated for over a decade. I still think it's far and away the best card. Others think it sucks. C'est la vie.
Dimir soooo deep now... Thought erasure doesn't get nearly enough love (tho it's boring) and the new ninjas are sweet af.
I've been playing a lot of fallen shinobi in the modern cube online , the card is incredible and close to scarab god/hostage taker tier.. Yet so few people could justify testing it...
We are almost at the point where people can rotate cards in and out of their guild sections without compromising the power level of the cube.
At least that's the case for dimir, azorius and orzhov.
I think it's interesting every guild has a single card 9+ as the consensus best card and then you drop down to 7 with much more contention on the remaining slots.
If we rank all guilds by the sum of the top 5 cards we get:
Azorious - 34.99
Rakdos - 33.5
Gruul - 33.25
Selesyna - 31.83
Dimir - 31.83
So surprisingly, Dimir is tied for worst allied guild. I would definitely agree with Azorious being the best guild though.
FWIW yesterday I had 3 games where Psychatog was able to do at least 18 damage in one hit. Had 22 damage in game 3, but opponent was at 24 because of Thragtusk

I've played Fallen Shinobi in a few other cubes. While powerful, I think Scarab God / Hostage Taker are pretty above it.

It's also a very new card. New cards may take a little time to settle into their proper places.

True, if you were the only one who ranked Tog as #1 than 1-2 new Dimir cards won't do anything....
