I was surprised nobody else made a thread for this. Its implications are larger in other formats, but it's still a helluva mana rock. The obvious competition is Thran Dynamo. It's a classic case of higher floor versus higher ceiling. Generally, the higher floor (Dynamo) wins out, but there are definitely some reasons to go for the lotus. It's more fair, for one thing (for those of us who like fair mana).
If your guild section has a lot of heavy hybrid costs (Dominus of Fealty, Arcanist's Owl, Boggart Ram-Gang, etc.) high devotion is pretty easy to come by, and these also allow the lotus to tap for large amounts of mana in two colors. Naturally, these cards also make Theros gods a lot more playable, and could perhaps be considered part of a devotion package. Maybe you wouldn't want to play this without some light devotion package, but I think it's a decent card even without that, and is itself a reason to consider devotion.
This reminds me more of Basalt Monolith than the Dynamo. And I'm not sure where I stand on it regarding that, as I think the artifact deck would prefer the Dynamo, and most 3 CMC fixing tends to be for multicoloured decks, not mono ones.
Probably a good send for those playing Nykthos or running a Mono-themed cube though.
This coming in tapped, and tapping for 0 when you ramp into it makes it really bad for artifact openings. Turn 2 signet into turn 3 this would be a classic, but with this you dont get anything. And this is a very common pattern in my cube: play artifact ramp for 2-3 turns, then drop a ugin or something.
While it taps for alle colors of mana, it only does so if you already has cast a permanent of that color. It also gets weaker the more colors you play.
You need to get 3 or more mana for this to be good. So this is best in close to mono colored decks, and I dont even see this being that good in green ramp. If I get my birds bolted, I want something I can rely on to get my 7-8 drop out. Not all hands can actually use 10+ mana.
This seems inferior to any other 4-cmc mana rock. A devotion deck likely is only 1-2 colors, so you're probably just better off having reliable color sources instead. I'd much rather have Ur-Golem's Eye.
I dont think I like it for cube; coming in tapped and being depandant on board state kills it for me.
4 mana is asking alot of a mana rock. Thran turbine as a baseline makes this feel bad since ramping this out, even on turn 2 is likly netting you less mana than turbine.
Cube tends to avoid a heavy colour dependence, but that is what this card thrives on. Even if I play land+elf lf into land+rofellos this could still be worse than turbine when I untap.

If you want something more fair than dynamo then just playFiremind Vessel, Crystalline Crawler, Hedron Archive. I have been burnt too many times by Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
