I really like MDFCs, and I think these discussions have been pretty civil and well-reasoned for the most part.
At the end of the day these are ultra versatile and would make their way into a ton of decks, but it's right to point out that this is also the case for utility things like Forgotten Cave, etc., that folks just don't have room for. Ultimately I personally think the upside on things like Bala Ged Recovery and Glasspool Mimic is high enough to make these an attractive addition and more impactful than things like Flagstones of Trokair or its ilk. The amount of upside is important, which is why I think something like Karakas (high impact, comes up a lot) is a cool inclusion, but Flagstones (lowish impact, doesn't come up often) is generally not considered as one. Then you have things like Minamo, School at Water's Edge which is somewhere in between (potentially high impact, but fairly niche). But I can see the rationale from those cubers who don't feel this way as well.
I will say the bolt lands are just great (the black, red, white and green ones being a bit better) and should be much easier inclusions, although we are looking forward to testing a bunch of the taplands too.
So with all the theorycrafting going on has anybody actually had a chance to test? Xmage has struggled to implement the MDFCs so no reps for me yet unfortunately. After zendikar drafts though I think these will be better than I anticipated for cube.
I agree. Reminds me of Nature’s Claim’s discussions from MH1.
