If we do decide we like these MDFC lands, do Kor Skyfisher and similar cards start looking stronger? Like, it might be an early land drop, but you bounce it back to hand to get your late-game spell.

Yes, definitely a small buff to Kor Skyfisher. She's already a good cheap threat in powered cube combined with Moxen.
Several people have mentioned that you can Mystical Tutor for a land with this. Definitely a cute interaction, that might be the best play in certain situations. However, I think those situations will be very rare, as 2-for-1-ing yourself for a land that bolts you if you want it to enter untapped means you are in pretty bad shape to begin with. However, there are other similar situations were it will be relevant. For example, finding a land with Narset, Parter of Veils seems sweet.
However, I haven't seen any mention the flip-side, which is that this "land" can also be duressed. While something that won't be relevant too often, I can definitely see someone lose a game because of this every once in a blue moon. There is a reason all targeted removal typically says "non-land". Luckily, IoK doesn't hit it.

Ya, but those 7 mana spells aren't lands, lol. These kinds of cards allow you to shoehorn in additional big spells without actually adding more 7-mana spells to your deck.
..........
On a completely separate note, being able to play lands that I can pitch to Force of Will and Force of Negation has been super cool.

Sure, but the fact that in the subset of cubes that run wanderer and in the subset of games this is one of the 2 top spells in your library and you have enough cards in your hand that this is a better than divination this card is good is not enough to move the meter on whether or not this card deserved a cube spot.
I don't think that was an argument anyone was making. He said it was a good card in his Wanderer decks. I don't see any reason to argue with or debate that statement.
People seem hellbent on fighting about every single tiny aspect of cube-related opinions that get shared. It's exhausting. Someone says "this card was cool in my deck" and someone else feels obligated to talk about how little that statement 'moves the meter'. Good lord.
I mean, these are discussions about whether or not these cards are good enough for cube. If someone says "this card is good in this situation," implicit in that is the idea that that's a mark in favor of playing this card in cube. Seems weird to say we shouldn't reply to a statement like that.
These threads are here to enable all discussion relating to the card and cube. Not just deciding if it's "good enough". Some posts are sales pitches for including cards. Others are just anecdotes about cool plays and experiences that they've enabled. Others still are people saying that cards are bad. Either way, people should be free to comment about how a card's been performing for them without having someone else tell them how little their opinion 'moves the meter'. Nothing in ELPsteel's post was selling the average cube manager on the idea of this card, so pointing out how his post failed to do that is both unnecessary and kinda toxic.
Anyways, the negativity and pessimism is just getting super old. Oh well.

To be fair, the moves the meter was a direct response to your post, which WAS arguing for the inclusion of this card. It's all just talking about magic. None of this is that big of a deal.
Honestly, I'm really surprised by the performance of MDFCs in my cube. Cards fewer highlights like Glasspool Mimic or Tangled Florahedron have been shown to be quite consistent. However, Sea Gate Restoration is been disappointing here and I wondering if I should cut it.
How have your experiences with it been?

I'm just jealous you're getting to cube! I hate cockatrice and don't live with any of my cube group so it's been a long time since I actually got to play

I know Xmage is a pain in the ass to download, but it’s so much better than the alternatives, and I’d recommend giving that a shot if you haven’t already. Me and the people I cube with all downloaded xmage like 3 or 4 months ago and it’s been absolutely worth it.

We tried on xmage and just got crashes, bugs, disconnects, ect. Plus having 98% rules enforcement is worse than having none at all cause you can't do anything to fix it when that 2% happens. Luckily our group alternates between cube and board games, and board game arena has kept us pretty entertained (still doing our weekly meetings, just remotely on BGA and discord). I've basically accepted that I don't like magic except in person, and that means waiting, unfortunately.
Just to share my experience: my in-person group moved to discord/cockatrice/dr4ft.info and it's been great. Cockatrice feels much more social and similar to paper magic to me than xmage b/c of the need to communicate verbally. I feel like if your playgroup is close and you don't have to worry about people bickering about rules, cockatrice is a pretty great solution. Plus you get access to spoilers/new sets really quickly
I had this in my Arena draft deck today that went 7-2. It was a land every game but 1, and that game it was a 7 mana divination. Much better than a land in that situation obviously, but it kind of reaffirms my thoughts that unless you have a way to cheat out really expensive spells, do land packs, or just want to run more of these lands for more consistent, but lower power level, games, this is just too low impact to justify a cube spot. Most of my cube decks are also empty handed when we hit 7 mana. Probably good in upheaval, but I don't think that's enough.
Edit - obviously a small sample size, and normal limited =/= cube, just pointing out that in the context of a normal limited deck (with decent card draw - 2 of the UW party draw 3 gain 3 and the blue draw 3) it was hard to have more than 1 or 2 cards in hand when this was castable.

Having played a fair(small?) amount of this limited format now (4 drafts plus a sealed on arena) and watching a fair amount of drafts, being able to pick up these lands is huge (especially the expensive ones - even getting to pick up the 6 mana 4/5 trampler in red or the 5 mana 4/3 sometimes flier in blue is great), so yes if you're running several of these new lands cards that can pick up lands as a "cost" definitely go up.
I find it funny that every mythic MDFC was added in the most recent MTGO Vintage Cube update except for this one. WOTC in their infinite wisdom added The Mirari Conjecture over Sea Gate Restoration, haha.
I don't understand why everyone is so hyped about this card - this card just feels like a waste of space in blue.
I've had to significantly shave blue's creature based and I'm still 10 cards over. I have no idea where people are finding room for this ...
