Real card (ignore that it looks like something I mocked up in MCM). This seems very not bad. Setting aside the baggage on mechanically unique cards in limited-time products blah blah, what are people's thoughts on this.
The equip cost is too high IMO, as by the time you spend your 4th turn equipping this (or you spend 6 to get the "surprise" turn), even if your opponent didn't have removal in response, they likely have fodder to throw away. Really good against 2 creature boards obviously, but just leaves the creature too fragile.
Frankly, thank god, I don't want to feel like I should be running these for power reasons cause I hate the aesthetics/lore of these cards and won't run them for that reason.
The equip cost is high, but man, that attack trigger is super strong. Might be worth a test for an equipment that grants +2 power, evasion, and has an attack trigger that's effectively worth two cards with every attack.
- Equip cost 3 or more is usually a death knell for equipment. Exception obviously being Batterskull.
- Speaking of Batterskull, it's a pretty average card without Stoneforge Mystic. Stoneforge Mystic doesn't really help Lucille since it can't cheat the equip cost.
- Overall I think this is worse than any Sword of X and Y. Hell, I don't think this is any better than Captain's Claws. Stronger effect, sure, but Claws is way more reliable, colorless, and an equipment creating creatures to hold said equipment is always a good thing.
- A far as colored equipment goes, I think this is overall worse than Embercleave / Maul of the Skyclaves.
That being said, Lucille can just runaway with the game and essentially Abyss lock your opponent. For everytime that'd happen, I'd imagine you'd get blown out by the equip 4 cost like 5 to 10 times or something.
I dislike the promotion and won’t be playing with any of these cards unless they are functionally reprinted in another setting. The card itself compares pretty well to Sword of Body and Mind, but I think the color restriction combined with 6 mana for the initial equip makes it just a wee bit too narrow.
Seems fine in a deck that wants to use Siguardias aid style stuff, maybe Syr Gwyn. It's probably not as good as Jitte and some of the swords but that deck can probably find a spot for it.
While 4 to equip is quite a lot, this weapon isn't weak by any means. The trigger is on attack, not connecting, and the sacrifice makes the menace creture even harder to block, since you just sac'ed your worst creature.
Honestly I have to agree with the people saying that these unique promos are annoying. I am not really interested in this custom-looking cards. Also since these will end in the hands of many kitchen table players, I find it weird to make an equipment near sword powerlevel and with a braid/abyss lock effect.
Instead of packing a stained glass walker or a random fetch, your random bonus for this vault is... another unique TWD promo that “technically” isn’t in the secret lair except that it totally is... madness.
Honestly? I have a pod of around 20 people from my area with whom I play Magic. I guess around half of them will tear apart any Walking Dead card if they see them. Therefore: Uncubeable.

This is no exaggeration.
I wouldn't put them in my cube out of principle but if someone lese had them I wouldn't not play their cube.

I'm sorry, but it sounds like you play with some jerks and need to find a new group.
I would like to explain my comment.
Yes, we already had one card ripped apart in the past: Prophet of Kruphix. My cube is an EDH cube in the style of Dolono's cube, a user here who is like the wtwlf123 of EDH cubes :), but I did not conform the EDH banned list and well, Prophet was really a huge problem and after my refusal to cut it, one of my friends ripped it apart and donated me Seedborn Muse to replace it.
That is the first part of backstory. Most people in my group are quite smart and fine people. The thing is...
We live in Germany and Secret Lair cards have been a running gag of corporate greed and real life microtransaction that are not even avalable here without a huge extra cost. And if I or anyone else in my private group supports this product, well it would be just pathetic. I doubt the card would survive the first draft
I understand that this stance is weird, especially for people in the US. But well, I thought I share this "problem" for your entertainment.
The only thing worse than Wizards printing mechanically unique black-bordered IP crossover cards in a Secret Lair product is ...having people in your playgroup that rip up your cards in protest.
There are some minor complaints that I hear about this card in addition to corporate greed. The character of Negan is a monster and Lucille kind of is the symbol of his bad deeds. One could argue that playing this card in a cube is misanthropic. It almost feels like playing Crusade or any of the other banned cards of Magic that depicts human abysses. Sure, we have cards in our cube that are ugly, horrible, terrific and we have villains like Yawgmoth who are monsters too. But they are much more fantastic and less... real actors who show us murder and rape in a pseudo authentic presentation.
There are even more minor complaints, but I guess you understand why some people are upset and would say something like "Why the hell do you support that *****?" and maybe even rip it up.
If you try the card out and are happy with it, go on and enjoy your time. I just wanted to add that facet to your discussion. Lucille is quite pushed, I would not be surprised if they reprinted it inside a regular Magic product and framing. That would solve my issue. I would be interested to test it for sure.
Well, I don't have any sort of problem with this card or this set. Testing this one for sure and I expect it will be quite good. If it doensn't fit anywhere in the primary cube I'll surely have some fun with it in the Artifact cube. The zombies walkers are..colorless you say?
I believe walkers are planned to be defined as 2/2 black zombies in the comp rules.
Wow really? That's pretty weird they don't look like they have black frames. Oh well. Disappointing. I was looking to running some armored zombies for flavor reasons.
I hate what this product represents with a fiery passion...the professor (Tolarian Academy) does a great job covering why this is such a harmful precedent.
If they made a traditional magic equivalent of this card, I would likely test it, but I'm not going to try this or any other card in this vein otherwise.

I am sure that I'm unhappy it's being printed, so it may not make it into my cube due to that.

The rest of your concerns are definitely legit, but it felt worth pointing that one out.

Getting a kicked Gatekeeper of Malakir every turn isn't a small thing.
