Hi wtwlf! What sleeves are you currently using for you cube? Mine is due for a re-sleeve, and I'm not sure what's preferred these days. I'm currently using KMC perfect fits in KMC hyper mattes from about 3 years ago, before KMC sleeves took a dive in quality.
Some time ago I bought KMC Hyper Matte Black, the newest edition. It was a risky move considering their recent dive in quality, but so far I've been very pleased with them. Easily the best sleeves I've ever had. What I really like about them is their size - they fit magic cards perfectly, as well as look really good.
Hey wtwlf, I have a question about drafting cube with just two players.
With your recent rise to 630, has that negatively effected drafts at smaller player counts? I ask because the archetype pieces are less likely to come together and/or there is less of a chance for power to come up so its more likely that some players might end up with none with 630.
We almost exclusively play cube as just two players. With a 540 card cube we had been doing grid drafts (18 packs of 9 cards for about 30% of the cube in a given draft). But with 630 that percentage is even smaller, around 25%.
Would you recommend a different drafting process for two players with your cube at 630? Or do you think going up to 630 when we only draft with two players is simply a mistake (given that 540 already seemed to be pushing it)?
Thank you for your time and all that you do for the cube community.
If all you're doing is heads-up, I would Glimpse Draft, and I would do it with a smaller cube. Probably no more than 405 cards max. That uses 66% of the cube per event, which is about what I'd consider a minimum average for decent results.
Grid drafting is best suited for tiny cubes, like maybe 180 cards in size, max.

I feel exactly the same way, haha. We're also almost always only 2 people playing, and increasing the cubesize to 630 seems like a stretch for us. We'll continue to play at 540 (glimpse draft) and it has been working out good.
The only issue now is it's harder to evaluate which cards should be in 540, which cards to cut etc, since normally I just follow wtwlf123s updates and do more or less the same ones. We play only once or twice a year, that's why it's hard to actually playtest the cards and see what works and what works not.
Plague Engineer leaving already? Wow. Very interesting that you are keeping Mardu Strike Leader, Hypnotic Specter, and Vampire Nighthawk in over it. How many of those do you think would survive if you went back down to 450?
Ya, being at 630 affords me a few slots to experiment with, and I want to see how this goes. Mimic/Blade can be used to support any of the small tribal subthemes, and the Humans package is only 4 cards. If it turns out to be a viable strategy, that's a small price to pay.
I figured it was worth a shot, especially since Mayor looks awesome with the new Nightpack Ambusher.
Hey Wtwlf! I was also thinking about running the human package in my 540. I run one less white aggro one drop than you do and I'm trying to make room for the Champion. If you get a chance can you look through my white one drops and suggest a cut? Thanks!
Maybe the 2nd Mother of Runes? If not, I might take a card from somewhere else. Maybe Adorned Pouncer and Secure the Wastes for Champion and Lieutenant?
Poor performance from Arcane Artisan and a couple of additional great targets for Spellseeker that I didn't have access to before (the Finales). Being able to play powerful cards on-curve after casting it adds a lot of additional value to the card. I'm considering cards like Profane Command and Devil's Play with a closer eye than I was before.
Sad to see Cursed Scroll go, but I'm close to cutting it too. I really don't have room for humans, so I'd likely cut it for something like Scroll Rack or Lightning Greaves. Heirloom Blade also looks fun.
Blade has been fun. And more consistent than I expected, even outside of tribal shells. Usman has been championing for it for a long time, so I decided to give it a shot based on his recommendation, and it's been working out quite well.
