Is anyone else vexed by the typo in the title of the Thread? Or is it just me.... hehe
Unsubstantiate is really interesting... I think this is the type of card that the blue aggro decks wouldn't mind having in their decks, but would usually find other cards that do the job better. Yeah it's flexible in that it can hit both a creature or a spell, but it's not netting me anything besides the tempo. Whereas cards like Remand, Snap, and even Into the Roil are more focused, but give me more value.
I think the question for me is, "Is this card better than a cheap bounce spell like Vapor Snag?"....which is a card I currently run and would most likely be the swap if I ended up adding this card. Or is it better than Negate or Into the Roil?

I honestly believed this is how it was spelled. Whenever I have read the word, this is what my brain has done with it. Like if it is a German word. Eldrrrricht! It was the same with foilage.
EDIT:
Just saw this on Blogatog, which I liked. Sounds like most escalators will have three modes.

Escalate has three modes (there are a few two modes) and let’s you pay for each mode you want to add.
What do people think about the newly spoiled Lone Rider? I think it's pretty good, especially in the pants archtype, which can span R/W or G/W... Also makes me reconsider adding War Oracle instead of Meadowboon
Lone Rider scares me in constructed (it can be a trampling first striking Blood Baron of Vizkopa for 1W) but it's a bit all-in on archetype support for my tastes. The body's embarrassing if you never flip it, and most lifegain decks are focused around triggers for Ajani's Pridemate instead of gaining gobs of life. That said, it's completely insane if you flip it by turn 3, so it might overcome the narrowness on sheer power level.
Not a bad list, but the "outside" life gain ways don't seem particularly reliable. It's certainly a higher payoff than Fencing Ace, but Ace also is significantly better if it gets a single +1/+1 boost (I'd much rather have a 2/2 double striker than first strike + lifelink).
pass fo sho on both, I think
Fencing ace is the perfect analogy with the little guy, except it only deals 1 damage so it isn't remotely passable as a baseline
and the big guy is like... way too bad of an average case scenario
Gnarlwood Dryad, Blessed Alliance and Unsubstantiate are the only cards I'm remotely interested in so far. I'm probably going to try the Dryad but I'm a lot cooler on the unsub. Blessed looks interesting at least and modal spells are generally better than they look.
Sorry for discussing and evaluating a new Peasant Cube card based on experience I've had playing Peasant Cube games for years and years?

Draft my Peasant Cube on Cube Cobra !!!
One target
Card disadvantage
It's flexible enough to be about as good as Vapor Snag, but I cut Snag and haven't really missed it

And here's the cards that can single-handedly gain three life in one turn:

Emerging from a 1-2 mana creature, it's too expensive. 4+ mana seems clunky since you're actually giving up actual board presence in most case.
I guess it's nice to "eat" a Man-O'-War or something, at least.
However, for the sake of argument, there are some cool BCSs.
Imagine saccing Kitchen Finks or Murderous Redcap.... "drools".
Or casting Undying Evil on your guy before Emerging the Gryff....
The real question is, is how often are we going to cast this guy or "want to cast this guy" at a cmc that makes him great... which is what?? 3-4 mana?
EDIT: You draw the card just from casting it.. Which is kind of neat... Even if it gets countered, you still draw.
