I think it's reasonable in a two color deck. Sometimes it's a more expensive Infest. sometimes it's a cheaper impression of Dakmor Plague/Famine. It might be too unreliable though and it's probably around the same level as those cards in two color decks. It's insane in mono black though.
I would not play Mutilate. You can cast Drown in Sorrow or Dakmor Plague off signets and duals... there just isn't reliably a ten-swamp deck that actually wants a sweeper.
Presumably Leelue meant that not EVERY red deck wants Slagstorm.
Maybe, but he said any lol
Because Slap phillips said "Slagstorm especially because it's the kind of effect any red deck wants."
So I was just reusing the words
He clearly meant that the lava spike mode + the sweeper mode made the card good for either a fast or slow deck.
If someone thought that I literally don't think there's a red deck that wants a 3 damage sweeper, they're not thinking critically.

Yeah, it's just that semantics are weird lol I get your point, but it's tough to know that when you go the polar opposite of 'this goes in any deck' in language, you know what I'm saying? I mean, re-read what you said, it's easy to get confused there, it has nothing to do with critically thinking homie
I think Mutilate would be a super fun card to have in C/U. it would add a different take on sweepers and while it is more variable, it again has a higher ceiling which is always nice. Basically its a better card the longer the games god and while its not a great answer early, it shouldn't be considered as such in my eyes. I feel like it would have the best home in a G/B re-animator control style deck where it would be nuts with how much land ramp some cubes have.
Another card I wish was legal is: Royal Assassin. While it may be kinda meh it becomes a strong black control card.
The point of this thread is less 'make expensive cards cheap' and more 'these rares would play well in a peasant environment without warping the format'

I reread what I said when I made my second post. I just don't know how anyone could take the words at face value, since that would I believe a 3 mana sweeper isn't a card that a lot of people would want to cube. It's weird that if I italicized the word "any", there would have been no confusion.
I read the words, not the brain. There's a reason I said it was 'off', and now it's clear it was the language that was off, not the intention.
And nah, that's not really weird--this is the internet, tone is tough to figure out sometimes, and by italicizing or underlying or by putting in parentheses you make it clear that you're not using the word 'any' in the same way that the OP was. The english language is complicated, and it's reasons like this where the tone of voice that you meant would be more telling than just saying 'Slagstorm isn't an effect any red decks wants', like yeah I clearly get what you mean now, but I don't think it's crazy to see how there could be confusion there, especially as Im not the only user to be confused here dawg.
It's similar to helping your uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse; both could be intending to refer to Uncle Jack getting off a horse, but only one is saying that without confusion.
Saying any was definitely hyperbole, my mistake for being a little overenthusiastic about the card.
I've been wanting more creatively designed black kill cards for a while now, a kill-pinger like Royal Assassin would be cool but definitely way too powerful for Peasant(+?).
On another note, after adding Debtors' Knell to low fanfare and having bad recent reanimator showings, I'm considering testing Show and Tell. Someone tell me why this is an awful idea.

Mostly games will either be over before the cube police has time to arrive or they'll just play out like normal, so I don't really see the appeal outside of powered rare cubes tbh.
one card that could be cool also would be Seraph. It would make a cool reanimator target and honestly is a super cool control card as a blocker no one wants to deal with.
King's Assassin I think is what we would want if royal assassin seems a bit too strong. making it be used on our turn before combat makes it seem more fair at our level of play.

I see some issues.
First, what are you S&T'ing into? In Peasant, threats are generally much weaker than answers, so you set up an S&T, your opponent drops their Volcanic Dragon or whatever and then Doom Blades your Ulamog's Crusher?
Second: What sort of gameplay are you hoping to promote? If they have the answer, you set yourself up for a two for one. If you managed to go Ancient Tomb into turn 2 ulamog's crusher and they don't have the answer, you just win.
Not sure if any of that sounds like it would be fun.
Lately my cube's "meta" has ended up really polarized; it's either zoo aggro or hard control that wins. I wanted to promote more midrange and combo decks, and Show and Tell is a fun 2 card combo that somewhat scales with the power level of the threats you're cheating in. I don't think Show and Tell is the right choice, though. It really doesn't have any synergy with reanimator the more I think about it, as reanimator usually needs to prioritize self-mill while show and tell just needs the card in hand and also gets pretty easily blown out by anyone also running a higher curve.

Rakdos Sweeper Control begs to differ.
But it's a definite upgrade to the likes of Sulfurous Blast and probably Breath of Darigaaz.
?
Would it be
busted?
staple?
narrow?
an acceptable inclusion?
trash?
