This set is higher powered than previous standard sets, which apparently isn't saying much...
For more wild speculation though, if Forebear's Blade were uncommon, would it make the cut? It looks like a fairer Banhammer to me, but I might be underrating the free equip ability.
Kwende, Pride of Femeref seems like it'd be an uncommon too because goddamn if I opened this as a rare I'd ask for a refund. It's probably not even that serviceable as an average-case 2/2 double strike. I enjoy the design of cards that encourage building around evergreen mechanics, though, like Favorable Winds, so I might give this guy a test anyways. Just so I can hope to get the Archetype of Courage wombo combo.
Also, people are down with Cast Down, but Seal Away looks good too for people looking to diversify or depower their removal suites.

~400 Peasant++ : List : Draft
Warning: Not for the durdly-hearted!
I am hoping for Kwende to be uncommon but using Kinsbaile Cavalier as reference, I think it is pretty unlikely.
Forebear's Blade would definitely make it into my CUbe but I tend to want any good pants because of all the power matters cards (and utility creatures with bad bodies) I run.
Man, Cast Down was spoiled in Spanish as something that translated into Plunge Into Oblivion (more or less). That was so much better of a name.
I don't like Forebear's Blade particularly much. You can just ignore it for a turn or two in a lot of situations, which is not what you want out of a six mana initial investment.
I mean if Sprout Swarm is not good enough now (and I think it's not), does adding one extra Blood Artist effect change anything? Probably not.
Slimey is probably about as good as Shapers of Nature, which is to say somewhere in the long list of "strong in booster draft, not good enough when held up against every other card in its guild ever". Also this guy starting as a Hurloon Minotaur instead of a Nessian Courser really hurts.
Paying more mana on both ends than Jade Mage doesn't sound exciting to me
While true, the 'blood artist' ability is what is exciting. Still prob not good enough, but it's potentially a way to grind out wins when that deck lacks reach. EDIT: There's also some merit to your mana sink being tougher to kill, but thats def less of a consideration
It's not blood artist. It's only the potential for blood artist on a very narrow subset of creatures that you won't have in play until you pay another 4 mana.
This card is only good in its home format, if that

For sure, I'm probably selling it a bit high but I'm always looking to change guilds up and the idea of making a bunch of 1/1s appeals to me in theory.
It'll be good in its home format no matter if it's a fast or slow format, this card seems really strong for retail limited.
I certainly like Valduk, Keeper of the Flame. I will have to see if I need to dedicate additional slots to support the theme but it also seems like it will be a Boros thing in Dominario (given Tiana, Ship's Caretaker). Thus, maybe there will be more playable support for the theme.
Tatyova, Benthic Druid has a fairly powerful ability for a non-rare. I am still uncertain whether it is enough to topple Trygon Predator but I am at least glad that the card exists as a precedent.
Ah, I would love to be able to enjoy Chainer's Torment. I have a fully pimped Chainer, Dementia Master EDH deck and the art is gorgeous. Ti be fair, it is not a mere Bloodhunter Bat since there is also the super-Lurking Evil aspect of the card which is likely to produce a decent body. However, the card is almost certainly unplayable.
I very nearly spilled my tea when the guys at Limited Resources listed Bloodhunter Bat as one of the black commons to pay attention to in their Masters 25 set primer.
The red and Dimir legends are obviously narrow booster draft cards, but Tatyova... just suuuuuucks.
Rogue Refiner is banned in standard, but you're totally free to use it in Cube. You don't need to reach wildly to use a horrendous 5-mana do-nothing-right-away version.

It's a decent card in limited, combining it with Roaring Primadox was the M13 limited GB grind dream
I personally like Tatyova, Benthic Druid for my simic ramp deck but also because Im adding a bit more legends matter cards and more legends to my cube. I feel like if we evaluate her on curve, the tapping out for her is rough. But lets say she come down when you have 7-8 mana all of a sudden she becomes a lot stronger and even if she turns one Cultivate into gas in the ramp deck she has done her job.
Tatyova is slow, but she doesn't require any mana investment and green (especially Simic) decks don't stop playing lands when they hit 5 mana. If not answered she can easily generate 3-4 cards/life in a completely average game. Cards with a repeatable effect always have a low floor, but also a high ceiling. A 5 mana card draw engine is reasonably costed for a green deck. She is slow, but she certainly doesn't suuuuuck.
Especially because those ramp spells that didn't really do anything anymore now draw you cards.

Slimefoot is the only one that's close, and he... is pretty bad. Alas.
I agree that the other cards are hot garbage for us, though. It does seem like a cool limited format, however.
