Im curious on people's thought on Gates Matters as an archetype. I know it blends well with Lands matter and 5 color good stuff but we have several interesting cards now to make the Gates do more than just fix mana.
So for me This gates matters archetype has been mulling around because I dislike the Lifegain etb tapped Duels from Khans. they just feel kinda meh and I realised with gates having some cool cards printed recently I would start to look and I'm curious what others think also.
Cards that have gate impacts: Circuitous Route: Explosive Veggies Substitute that also would allow for gate search so it becomes almost a direct replacement.
District Guide: Can replace Civic Wayfinder or Farhaven Elf fairly easily. I know its a direct replacment for Civic but with Farhaven I could see it being worth it in the archetype.
Gatebreaker Ram: With just 2 gates this ram becomes devastating and any more gates and he becomes almost broken. One of the main reasons I'm considering this idea.
Gates Ablaze: The other reason I'm considering this archetype. This card is bonkers and I feel like if Gates were to be played that this could easily be included so long as you play 3 gates in your deck.
Gate Colossus: The final reason's I'm considering this archetype. the colossus fits into artifacts matter archtype and is a sort of inevitability card against some decks.
Guild Summit: While this card is quite good in constructed, I 'm not sure if it would do enough with only 10 gates in a cube but it has potential.
The gates matters would help give the 5 color deck that always seems to get drafted bit more of a cohesive archetype and I think this could work but I'm eager to hear others thoughts.
I had been wondering the same thing, though mostly because of Gate Colossus. I feel like the archetype would have to be tangentially supported by a landfall theme as well, though, to make sure you have means of playing your gates again and again by returning them to your hand. Sadly, most cards which allow you to do that tend to be a bit fringe and often in the wrong colours (e.g. Moonfolk from Kamigawa).
So after some one on drafting a regular member of my cube felt that i could probably drop the Khans life lands and add gates if I'm willing to find space for another set of gates. That would mean 20 gates in the 480 I run plus the ravnica bounce lands and the Trilands for my fixing and as I thought about it during our 2 man draft I think it could work.
That definitely sounds like the optimal solution if you want to support this archetype since the bouncelands also allow for additional 'gate ETB' triggers, and the extra copies are needed to better approach how pervasive gates are in their native environment.

the Gate keepers: the bodies are terrible and the effects are kinda lack luster but i would be remiss without mentioning them.
Opal Lake Gatekeepers
Smelt-Ward Gatekeepers
Sunspire Gatekeepers
Ubul Sar Gatekeepers
Other cards that are subpar but could see play if one so chooses.
