The effect is twice as good as Hissing Miasma, if you look at it as a general life swing - same way Lightning Helix represents a six-point life swing, not three. Add the fact that it costs one more mana than Miasma, though, and I would only put the card as 1.5x better. Whether you consider that sort of card playable or not seems to depend. Would it help protect you or win a race better than the average four-drop creature?
Yeah, the card has honestly impressed me a lot in TOE limited - it can be INTENSELY frustrating to play against (though that might be a reason NOT to cube it). It essentially reduces the number of attacks the opponent can make for the rest of the game, while also reducing the effectiveness of each attack. The fact that you still gain the life EVEN if you block the attacking creature makes a big difference as well.
It's interesting that it legitimately synergizes with lifegain. If you gain 6 life somewhere else and that causes the opponent to have to attack you three more times in order to kill you, well they suddenly take an extra 3.
Really late to the party here, but these are my adds... I really value the 2 for 1 with the adventure cards and think they will be great advantage.

This is for my kids' cube with a cut-down set of abilities, so no Adventure or Adamant. I also have a sum total of something like three Knights in the entire cube, so Knight Tribal is a non-starter for me too. After that, I've still got room for six changes.
Faerie Vandal in for Cloud of Faeries: Leelue may or may not have sold me on the idea that Cloud of Faeries is not as good as it looks. Faerie Vandal should be Cloudfin Raptor Lite at the very least.
Fierce Witchstalker in for Maulfist Revolutionary: The Witchstalker is a pretty good beatstick, and I don't have many at this point in the curve. The Revolutionary was probably hanging around waiting to see if I ever got a critical mass of +1/+1 counter-play or planeswalkers. I've committed to neither, so it can go.
Overwhelmed Apprentice in for Phantasmal Bear: The kids look at the bear and go "oh, that thing - I love that thing"... and then never deck it. Let's play something infinitely more useful.
Syr Konrad, the Grim in for Phyrexian Gargantua: I'm pretty excited to add this guy - he fits the durdly Golgari graveyard shenanigans archetype perfectly, for one. Pretty good in a Rakdos aristocrats-style deck, too.
As always, tells me I'm mad and talk me out of any of these.
I know it's early days, but I was wondering if y'all got any playtime with Eldraine cards. Specifically, I'm looking for feedback on Syr Alin, the Lion's Claw. Is it as good as I think it is? Or is it a big fat do-nothing most of the time? I have the first draft of my peasant cube coming up in a few weeks so I'm trying to tighten things up in time
Syr Alin has been a good, not great curve topper for aggressive token decks in my cube. If you're in the archetype you'll run him, but he's far from vital to the strategy. He typically gets picked up in the latter half of the pack

It's the five mana that holds him back in those type of decks in our opinion.
Syr Alin's not terrible however, the times you do get him out and have a couple tokens out he can pull you way ahead on the attack; just feels a bit win-more.
I CAN however vouch for Syr Konrad, the Grim. This guy just does so much work. Surveil? take damage. Gravedigger effect? take damage. Don't get me started on dredgers. His damage really adds up, and fits right in with an archetype that likes to grind out the game, so youre going to get a lot of mileage out of him. Also being a 5/4, he's no slouch either, and can really gum up the board.
Magic Aids, for Pioneer. Honestly, it probably counts as one of the better options because of the variety of cross-synergies between archetypes: aristocrats, life gain, and artifacts, mainly. However, while the latter two can be supported in CU/be, they tend to be more than a bit parasitic which makes them somewhat niche.
Did another draft today, somehow went mono-black again, but I have to say that Order of Midnight has continually impressed me. I was doubtful when I initially added it, but I have been happy to draw it every single time, whether in my opening hand for a 2/2 flier or late game as recursion and a body. It gave me double use from a Fleshbag Marauder today, and it punched turn after turn for damage. This card is in to stay.
