So, just an idea I'm toying with for a power tournament with prizes for top unpowered decks. This is based on an old Pauper deck I made, and back then it was usually a turn 3-4 win. I'm pretty worried about disruption. I have a decent collection of cards but I'm not sure what to back cover my beatsticks with. This is the basis of the deck, at current standing.
The focus is the Riverfall Mimics+Clout of the Dominus, with a turn 5-6 win max with or without them
So the issues are that I have no idea how Vintage plays. How scared should I be of disruption?? What counters would be best?? Will Shroud be enough for protection or is Vintage full of sweepers??
** Should I run counters or burn?? What counters are good?? Is CMC 1 flooded enough with spells for Mental Misstep to be a good card?? Are there enough instants to run Dispel?? Is the format slow enough I can take Counterflux to battle storm?? Is Storm even a deck??
And, finally; How do you sideboard for Vintage??
All advice is appreciated, including "Don't bother playing, you're a goner", but I'm likely to ignore that one.
mental misstep is very good but counterflux is absolute trash for vintage, you don't ever need to end the stack. If your worried about storm run maybe 1-2 flusterstorm main and maybe 1-2 sideboard but in all likelyhood you won't be seeing much storm. force of will is pretty much the best counter still and worth a 4 of. If you can, switch your manabase to fetches and volanic island but if you don't own them it's a tad pricey. Lightning bolt is good to kill the bobs, LabMs, and other <4 toughness creatures but outside that burn is pretty moot. The cheap noncreature counters are what you want as [cards]oath of druids, necropotence, time walks, time vaults[/card] are way more potent than creatures and outside of hatebears or World.Drag mid combo there aren't and creatures really to counter that are worth the pure creature counters/catchalls. (After all people usuall oath/tinker their only creature in which more often than not will be blightsteel) land hate is strongin this formate, and pretty important after artifact and graveyard hate if you can get stripmine or wastes. If your down for it I could probably chat with you around 8pm Central today and help you carve out a deck with what you own/little buying new cards but I'm dead tired and it's almost 3am at the time I'm posting this so I'm not hitting every point I should.
But if you want shot me a pm and I'll lend a hand.
Cheers,
disco

You're really going to need some disruption to make this work at all. Force of Will is practically a must. Otherwise, you're going to be staring down a turn 1 Trinisphere into a turn 2 Lodestone Golem with absolutely no response and no way to not just scoop it up against Mishra's Workshop Stax decks. Mental Misstep and Daze can help as well.

You might find disruption in the form of Magus of the Moon or Blood Moon. The problem is that either is going to mess with your blue sources - Scalding Tarn while expensive is a relatively recent printing, if you had access to them, you could find basic islands and work around Moon effects.
