Here is a deck that is actually still one of my favorites, even though it hasn't been widely played. I think that it is a very cool archetype, has ample disruption, and has a pretty kick-ass name. Here is the basic list list:
That leaves a couple slots to be played with, especially in the disruption slots. I really thought about adding a couple of tidehallow scullers, since they bypass cannonist and are additional beats, but the mana cost is sorta rough. With a tiny bit of red in the main, and more for the side, a lot of flexibility is gained. Cards like ancient grudge, hide/seek, red blasts, or whatever else open a lot of options.
I really like how this deck plays, mostly like a fish deck with a huge draw engine. The undiscovered paradise seems random, but it fixes colors and is pretty good with bazaar. Raven's crime is a beating against control, but I'm not sure about them maindeck. maybe one, as one in the grave is all it takes. not to mention that this card also combos with undiscovered paradise.
Any input will be greatly appreciated, As I'm just looking to optimize the list fir the current meta.
EDIT: List edited. And what do you guys think about firestorm? Kills little guys dead. On that topic, What about the side? Can you guys help me sort this out? I like:
firestorm
yixlid jailer
extirpate
swords to plowshares
1 hide-seek
ray of revelation
Ancient grudge
1 Badlands
goblin vandal
oxidize
wheel of sun and moon
I actually totally forgot about balance, it should be in there.
as for death spark, that slot is totally cuttable, maybe for a fourth squee, maybe for something else. It is playable, though, with the badland and the undiscovered paradise. it takes care of welder and stuff, and it works like a worse squee. The badland is also there for the off-chance that you want to play the squee, which works pretty well as a recurable blocker (hello goofy). Hide/seek is also really tech.
but darkblast eats a draw. That is why I like death spark. And the badlands + 4 fetches is 5 lands, plus undiscovered paradise. That seems like enough ways to cast a red spell. Maybe one of the less important moxen (W?) Can be replaced by lotus petal to make colors more consistent.
I don't understand why someone would worry about Darkblast eating a draw in a graveyard-based deck, much less Dawn of the Dead with Loam, Squee, and Bazaar. Hell, I would be dredging every chance possible just to improve my engine.
I would highly recommend adding a Vamp Tutor, adding the 4th Squee, and going up to 4 loams (unless testing proves 3 is correct). Hide//Seek and Raven's Crime are cute, and Swords is nifty, but you need to make your deck engine brutally powerful first and foremost, then add frilly spells later. That's my oppinion, at least--maybe you have tested thoroughly and you know what you're doing. But still it looks like it could use some more consistency.
The fourth squee is addable for death spark, It really doesn't matter. Squee is more consistent. And believe it or not, hide/seek is a really good card. Seek kills dsc, storm sometimes (the life-gain also helps), time-vault, and other random strategies, while not being terrible against aggro. Hide also kills dsc, workshop stuff, time-vault (temporarily).
I probably wouldn't go above 2 lftl, but 3 is doable if thats what you like. Vamp is also a good suggestion, I must have just left it out. That first list was off the top. I changed it.
Have you thought about trying Glittering Wish in your Hide/Seek slot. Use the H/S in the side and add one Gaddock Teeg plus whatever else. I have been playing one for a bit now and being able to find extra goodies from the side like Wheel of Sun and Moon is very handy, especially game one.
I don't particularly like glittering wish. It just seems like more of a hassle than anything. When you really need it, it is a multicolored sorcery that gets you another card that is probably hard to cast. It just seems slow.
And it seems that one of the weak points of the deck is actually the zombie infestation. It just does too little when you want it to. I want to put these in the side, for fish and workshop probably.
I edited my list at the top. Tidehallow Sculler seems like a really good fit for this deck, acting as thoughsieze 4-7 and acting as a supporting beater. I also like him because he goes right by cannonist, allowing you to play another disruption spell or, if it seems there hand is pretty empty, you could go about casting life from the loam or something.
I am also contemplating cutting a cannonist in favor of 1 teeg. He negates explosives, force, tendrils, lich's mirror, misdirection, and a host of other cards, and he is not redundant.
4x bazaar of baghdad
4x Bloodstained Mire
3x Bayou
3x Scrublands
3x wasteland
1x badlands
1x Undiscovered Paradise
1x strip mine

4x Tarmogoyf
3x tidehallow sculler
Card Quality/Quantity:
4x Dark Confidant
4x Squee
1x Life from the Loam
1x Demonic Tutor
1x Vampiric Tutor
1x Demonic Consultation
3x null rod
3x Thoughtsieze
2x Duress

I used to like Deathspark but it's often hard to trigger and it's off color.
