i been tinkering out a few variants (ritual dday, gush dday, hermit druid) and the one i have found i liked the most was (take into account there is a lot of stax an oath in Australia) a ub control shell utilising intuition.
I still need to get a lot of testing in but this is where i got too (i figured this was different enough to hermit druid/ dday builds that it deserved its own thread)
Dr. Strangelove: (name remnant of starting with doomsday but figured demonic consultation and laboratory maniac were close enough to a 'doomsday' that we could keep the name)
General game plan is to hold out tutoring to find consultation and use snapcaster to play consultation twice. Obviously there are a lot of other ways to tutor into the pieces but the snapcasters really help getting both of your combo pieces (consultation and laboratory maniac). Failing that (or fearing them having an answer in hand) just do the good olf fashion turn guys sideways and use dark confidant to hopefully generate sufficent counterspells.
There is a few obviously odd choices main deck- like the diabolic edict and steel sabotage. A lot of the oath decks in our meta are dragon breath making edict better than chain of vapour for this job (though im not convinced on this as a main deck choice).
The steel sabotage could (and possibly should) be hurkyls recall. But being able to counter a sphere before it comes down i have found to be really useful and a lot of the games where they have multiple sphere's im not likely to be winning anyway. I'm still really not sure about this but have found the steel sabotage pretty good in all sorts of places (there isn't as much hatebears as there should be in Australia) The impression i get of the rest of the worlds meta would suggest i prob wouldnt play either of these cards main and would prob swap for chain of vapour and another vendilion clique or mental misstep (depending on how rife i thought s2p/bolt would be)
I feel like i should be playing gifts ungiven (havent got round to testing yet) but can't imagine why it would be better than another intuition in any situation (i started with 3 intuition and cut one)
much apologies if this is too similar to the other lab maniac threads; I felt it was different enough and didn't want to tangent those threads.
4 lab maniac seems quite excessive, since you only really need one and it's tutorable. my guess is that you want to avoid fizzling on Consultation, but even with one it's quite unlikely and with two it would almost never happen. (you can also still guarantee one with Intuition, eg by getting lab maniac, demonic, vampiric) so I'd recommend cutting two there
tinker is pretty amazing, and you've certainly got the support for it. i'd probably put it and a Blightsteel in the hole made by removing the Maniacs
also what's up with Porcelain Legionnaire in the sideboard? I'm assuming it's anti-Workshop, since it holds off Lodestones, but it's only an option I'd consider in a workshop sideboard, since they're the only ones who can expect to reliably resolve it through spheres, and besides it's only really a solution to one facet of the deck. probably just more Hurkyl's and Steel Sabotages are better, unless I'm misinterpreting its purpose
edit: wow I just noticed this is a month and a half old

a limited budget leveller build
