Hi, new to the forums. i'm just looking for some advice with respect to a mono-red sligh deck I just built. It needs to be faster and more violent, in my opinion. Here is the deck list:
Land/Mana Sources:
1x Black Lotus
1x Mox ruby
4x Barbarian Ring
11x Mountain
The deck is capable of a lot of second and third turn kills, but there is a definite lack of consistency. I put in the browbeats as damage/draw and the WoF for draw as they were the most efficient things I could think of. It's doing pretty well in the meta at my LGS, going 14/21, but the losses are catastrophic ones. Please help!
WoF for draw as they were the most efficient things I could think of.
Wheel of fortune is restricted.
Browbeat is next to useless. The problem here is that the opponent will just let you draw, and in vintage, by turn 4 it is unlikely that you will be able to use the cards you drew. It is also 3cc, which almost should almost automatically preclude its addition to a burn deck.
This deck has 15 lands, and yet has more than 15 spells that are worth 3cc and above. I find it hard to believe that ou'll are able to cast them in a timely manner, given that on average you will have 3 lands on turn 3 (half of the time, it will take longer). Either up your mountains (please don't say that 15 lands is "enough" and "you never mana screw"; it isn't) and cut down your 3+ cc spells to 4 or less. If there's any advice that you take from this post, this is it: YOU DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH LANDS.
Thank you! That is a lot of great information and criticism that is exactly what I needed. Really, thank you so much for your help.
I do have one question though, to follow up: should I add some method for card drawing or is top-deck and go sufficient for this type of deck? And a follow up, IF yes to card draw, do you have any good ideas for mono red cheap drawing engines?
Don't bother with the draw. Red doesn't have any decent draws other than wheel, and wheel costs too much and prone to backfire.
If you really want a draw engine for this deck, then consider using skullclamp (drop the flings). Cast a haste creature like spark elemental, attack, clamp it, when it dies draw 2 cards. Note that skullclamp doesn't really belong in a sligh deck, but will dominate in a more casual setting.

Get rid of the Browbeats, as above the Wheel is restricted and I am not even sure I would run one, but it's better when you can cast manaless burn such as Fireblast to finish them.
If you're looking for card advantage try Magma Jet.
As mentioned red doesn't really have any good draw besides Wheel which is restricted, so the scry 2 on Jet is about as close as you can get without straying from your game plan.
I have ordered a Stip and Wastelands and will replace when they arrive.
Thanks for your help, folks. Is there anything else to fix in there? Is there anything more efficient, creature-wise? I originally had Jackal Pups but replaced them with the Vexing Devils. I feel like there must be something else in the 1 drop range.

Take a look at this deck:
http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/vintage-type-1/established-vintage/null-rod-aggro-decks/129848-vintage-sligh#c2
It has 18 lands, and only 3 spells that are 3cc. The rest are 1 to 2cc.
Don't bother with incinerate when chain lightning does the same job. The "can't regenerate clause" is not worth the extra cost.
Shred freak is terrible, not when cards like goblin guide or tattermunge maniac.
