Two cards that come from an anonymous source who has provided a ton of cards for this set and others! Definitely to be trusted!
Empty-Shrine Kannushi -
Creature - Human Cleric (U)
Empty-Shrine Kannushi has protection from the colors of permanents you control.
1/1
Nezumi Shadow-Watcher -
Creature - Rat Warrior (U)
Sacrifice Nezumi Shadow-Watcher: Destroy target Ninja.
1/1
A couple little one-drops that will see play! The Kannushi is a nice little cleric which reminds me of Invasion block stuff. Also, note that he's always at least protection from white, which is interesting. Reminiscent of Death Speakers. Pretty cool! In some decks, he's a mini Iridescent Angel... that doesn't fly. The rat's okay in block and limited, of course. Sometimes he's a cheap Terror, and sometimes he's just a 1/1 for 1.
And as a bonus, a card I designed when Mirrodin first came out:
Only difference between this and the version I proposed was that mine was a common. If it's going to be uncommon, it probably could have cost to play... although that would give Affinity decks another 0-drop option, I guess, which is probably unwise. Still, a 1 toughness boost isn't anything that exciting, and since it already costs you an entire card, it should at least not cost any mana... IMHO anyway.
Enjoy the new cards! :spider:
EDIT: Shuko gives +1/+0, not +0/+1! That explains why it didn't seem to be very good. So now it's a mini-bonesplitter.
thanx, can't see these being played at all, may-b the equipment in draft, but that's about it... :/

Brian Tinsman, Set Designer :?mana::snow::snow:
Legendary Creature – Human Designer (MR)
Brian Tinsman, Set Designer can only be cast during the third set of a block.
When Brian Tinsman, Set Designer enters the battlefield, ignore all flavor and mechanics of the first two sets in the block. "Ok so what do we have here... gothic horror? Scrap it. Expand the Devine Vs. Demonic duel deck to 244 cards and print it!"
2/2
Empty Shrine Kannushi- :slant: Agreed, as this really belongs in Invasion block. Oh well. It isn't too bad for a one drop though...
Shadowwatcher- Aww. Ninjas shouldn't die to one drops. Boo.
Shuko- yet another :slant: . While it's not bad, it's not exactly good either.
The biggest complaint I have with these cards though is the fact they eat up uncommon slots. Unless it's a rediculously good 1 drop, I never like seeing 1 drops in my uncommon slots. Well at least they help fill the spoiler up...
thanx, can't see these being played at all, may-b the equipment in draft, but that's about it... :/
I would deem the Equip unplayable, but the other two are nice 20-23 cards in aggressive decks. The nezumi is at worst playable from the SB.
The white one may even make it's way into the SB of WW for the mirror if enyone has to ever worry about the mirror.
Even if the Equip cost 0 to play Scale of Chis-Goria would still be better.
The other 2 cards seem decent in limited. White is a strong agro color, so a 1/1 pro-white for 1 help bring beats in the mirror late game. Pity it can't be enchanted.
The rat is good. Ninjas are crazy. If you can't block a creature in this limited format, you could lose the game flat out.

Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone
To the well organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.
What we're doing here is akin to taking the text of Moby Dick, locating specific words therein, rearranging them to create a passage from Fight Club, and concluding from this evidence that Tyler Durden is based on Ahab.
Shuko is uncommon because printing common artifacts was an exception in Mirrodin block only. I was surprised to see No-Dachi as an uncommon but then realized that before Mirrodin they had said that artifacts shouldn't be common.
BTW the effect is too little to spend a card on.
The other too are uninteresting in constructed but should see play in Limited.
Empty-Shrine combos nicely with 8.5-Tails, since then all you have to do is turn the target White and Kannushi does the rest. But, I think it'll really see more play once Ravnica rotates into Standard, if it really is the second coming of Invasion as many expect.
The Nezumi is a good Limited pick for the sideboard, and could possibly find a home in Standard Rat SB's if Ninjas get any good.
The equipment is filler, plain and simple.

Metallic Sliver
Mindstone
Phyrexian Walker
Phyrexian War Beast
Roterothopter
Serrated Arrows
Soldevi Sentry
Soldevi Steam Beast
Squee's Toy
Staff of Zegon
Tablet of Epityr
reaching from Alliances to Tempest, with one in 7th edition.

I see your point, but they couldn't really make cards with these effects common because they're hosers.
Protection from [a variable color] is typically uncommon or even rare, and hosing a set mechanic (or block mechanic) is also typically uncommon or rare. There are exceptions, of course, but this is usually the case.
The artifact is only uncommon because it's an artifact. As a card, it's pretty crappy.

Oh noes. Disciples and enforcers would be harder to kill. Now it's going to take 5 damage to kill 1 enforcer, 2 to kill disciple, and magma jets and shocks cant kill thropters!! Darn.

......WTF????....... I don't even know what kind of warning you deserve for this....
Well, they are all one-drops. Those lacked a bit in CHK. The cleric has an interesting ability. There is a one-drop rat in block now which is handy. The equipment isn't really that cool though. If it gave +0/+2 it could have been good, but as is... meh... Just not impacty enough.
Arkham, the 1920's. Investigators battle horrors from beyond time and space, risking life and sanity while conspiracies of cultists and malign servitors seek gateways for their outer gods to return...
Soon, the stars will be right! Great Cthulhu shall rise!
the first one might be used in shrine decks :p, the second one might be sideboarded vs monoblue ninja control or ub ninja, if such archetype exists.
That equipment would be awesome on a Loxodon Punisher!

Pretty good limited card. It can already stop one samurai and can be helpful against an opponent playing your second and your third color.

Creature - Rat Warrior (U)
Sacrifice Nezumi Shadow-Watcher: Destroy target Ninja.
1/1I don't like it. Not because it is weak, but because it kills ninjas. I'm liking ninjas and they shouldn't be killed by some wannabe security guard. meh:laugh:
Wow a predictible card that can be useful in limited and might be a plant for Ninth. I bet we get the opposite as well (+1/+0). Reminds me of the scale from Mirrodin.
They're not flashy, but they do their job. The shuko doesn't look like much unless there's a samurai that gets bonuses for being equipped or something similar...
The shrine one could turn out great if ravnica is really gold(multicolored).
And the equipment... Well, i prefer the teeth and scale of chiss goria, they ARE free and instant, after all.
Then again, clerics in extended who used to use lightning greaves as infinite loop of life gain now got new toys!

I really hope the white one drop isn't part of what Stern thought would bring WW back in the Iq article... because it sucks (except in limited).
The other two cards are pretty cool for limited. The equipment is neigh useless, but it's Japanese so I have to, therefore, like it. Ninja Killer will be TECH in limited. I would ++ on the maindeckage in CoK BoK BoK limited... to the max. Thank you R_E for exposing more good cards in limited.

I was really hoping for a onedrop rat that did something when sacked/killed. It's unfortunate its just a hoser card. And with this guy in the set, there isn't much of a chance fo seeing another one. booo...
Dude, what's up with wizards?
I mean why can't the white dude be a 2/2 for WW or something? Then at least I could actually do some damage...
The black one is cool in limited, but how long is it actually going to stick around? I mean it's a 1/1...

The black one might see play in block/t2 as a cheap rat, which is one of the reasons that the deck doesn't work.
