Cute. It'll be nasty in limited, and MIGHT be able to fit into WW somehow in constructed (but honestly, I'd rather just be attacking instead of tapping that creature).
The thing I most appreciate about this card is that it guarantees we'll have Betrayers splice cards in the other colors now. Cheers!
I don't get why everyone is worried about Splice not being in BOK, it's a fun little mechanic and WOTC isn't stupid. I gave it a 2.0 I believe in the Limited pointing.
I am glad we finally have a splice card confirmed, i was getting afraid that there wouldnt be any. And this is a pretty playable one at that, for limited that is.

Attack? Who ever said anything about an attack? This is one of the most potent defensive cards yet seen in the block, potentially turning a trio of weak defenders into a pair of nasty first-strikers on one spell, plus one more mana. Combat math will be purest hell if you know your opponent has one of these, and at common, every white mage can have 2 in their deck.

Some wonder why I carry 8 decks on me. The answer? I get tired of being boarded against in casual games, and 90% of the players I meet can't beat a jank deck I made to be tokens for a serious one.
The same WOTC that printed Arcbound Ravager isn't stupid? Maybe not...but they're sort of like an insane genius. You never know.
EDIT: It can be a good defensive card, but in WW, which this seems oriented towards, you had better just attack as much as possible. I guess if you have a creature with Vigilance, you can use this both ways, but I definitely wouldn't take out a Bonesplitter or Wrath of God for this card. Much better in Limited than in Constructed.
Alternative splice cost is ok. Playable in constructed though I don't think so. Wonder if other color spells will have different alternative splice costs.

Well, yeah, but generally speaking white doesn't get cards with haste. This lets you do something with a creature the turn you play it. In my opinion, this card looks really good. On defense, it lets you get some good efficiency (even hard cast, it's pretty good), and it can be good on offense while putting creatures with summoning sickness to use when splicing. I rate it pretty solidly.
Ooh...white weenie mixed with Ninjas...give your white creatures first strike, let them do the first strike combat damage, then Ninjutsu out a Ninja of the Deep Hours...*ponders*
This card does have a lot of possibilites, most of which are in combat.
Really the only good splice card white has is candle's glow, and with its splice cost it can't always get the job done. Really low cc and free splice make this a powerful combat trick in limited.
i'm pretty happy about the alternate splice cost. it changes some of the dynamic of the game. this particular card will be very good for defensive purposes. i'll be interested in seeing what sort of alternate costs the have forthe other colors...
predictions?
black - sac a creature, or loss of life
blue - discard a card
green - ?
red - ?

It will have something to do with land type or color. You will not get a blue card played in a black without either no island or blue spells for example. (An educated guess)
well first strike is always appreciated in white, esp with some power boost...
this would see play in limited, and attacking would be more difficult if you know that he's holding this card in hand...
in constructed... well...
scenario:
a : 2nd turn, bushi tenderfoot, attack!!
b : no block...
a : what the? you're suppose to block with your frogmite!!11!!
b : nope, i'll take 1, thank you very much, my turn disciple via vial, ravager
attack with horde of frogmites, go...
a : aw, crap...

It's because we know 2/3 of the spoiler and there hasn't been a single Splice card - this was the first.
I like it. Guided Strike is one of my favourite combat tricks, although it draws you a card, this doesn't. Sometimes this can be used multiple times if you splice it onto stuff by tapping your creatures, although that's a losing strategy because it's only good if you're being beaten on by attackers. Also, after the first time, it's no longer a surprise, which is 98% of the card's use. It's a playable common, though, especially in limited.
Nice card, decent instant speed trick for W with a great alternate cost. Best use i can see for it is on 1 of your creatures when it blocks an opponents creature, that way you can block and then use the blocking creature itself as the splice cost.
It's an awesome, awesome card, except for one little problem. What really potent Arcane spells does White have that this fits in with? Splicing this onto Ethereal Haze is pointless. Candle's Glow will usually take just as good care of any combat problems. It's a great defensive card either way, but I don't see it being spliced THAT often. I'll draft it pretty high for a common, just for its hardcast potential.

mmmm alternate splice costs.
It's ok

At least post a picture if you're going to make a thread.
Edit: I really look forward to more splice cards with alternative splice costs.

If it's this, then it'd be ridiculous. Instant-speed, uncounterable Crystal Shard that's only vulnerable to discard? Hell yeah!
