If a spell is cast for its Dash cost, will its CMC while on the stack be the Dash cost or the printed cost?
I read 601.2b and 601.2e–g as directed, but they didn't really clear things up for me.

I'd assume Dash behaves the same way as Evoke, so its CMC while on the stack will be its printed CMC.
No matter what amount you're actually paying (or not if you're getting a freebie!), the specific phrases "Mana Cost" and "Converted Mana Cost" *ALWAYS* mean the numbers and symbols printed on the card in the upper right corner.

except when dealing with X spells while they are on the stack, in that cast the CMC is the amount of mana spent on the spell
Thanks, this was the part that was confusing me.
To summarize, spells that care about the "cost" of a spell on the stack are always referring to the printed cost unless there's an X that was paid, in which case, the X is factored into the cost. Sound right?
107.3f If a card in any zone other than the stack has an {X} in its mana cost, the value of {X} is treated as 0, even if the value of X is defined somewhere within its text.
202.3b When calculating the converted mana cost of an object with an {X} in its mana cost, X is treated as 0 while the object is not on the stack, and X is treated as the number chosen for it while the object is on the stack.
