Like usual, they start out awesome with 10% of the set full of value....followed by 90% of the set worthless crap. I'm fearing another Modern Masters 2015

just my two cents though: Don't sell your cards, even if you don't ever decide to come back playing don't sell them, why? Because since you are a physician, a profession which should get you a fair amount of income, 30 grand is not what is going to change your life,

I understand where you are coming from but that doesn't work. I've been in the game since Beta, and I am finally at the point where I am almost out....and there is only one way out...GET RID OF EVERY CARD YOU OWN. Do not leave a trace of MTG in your home. A lot of people including myself (until recently) don't understand the level of addiction that MTG can produce in long term players.
It truly is like crack or alcohol....once you quit, you can never look back. Recovering alcoholics do not leave whiskey in their home, and recovering MTG addicts shouldn't leave any cards in their homes either. Strangely enough, it's not as bad for people who are only a year or 2 into the game. It's the guys like myself who started way back at Alpha/Beta era.

If you are quitting, then quit properly...Once all your cards are gone, you will probably never muster up the strength to go out and regain all the cards you once had. That's why you have to get rid of it ALL.

Truthfully....here in Canada....MTG is hurting very bad because of the dollar. It takes 140 Canadian dollars to equal 100 US dollars. The price of singles have gone through the roof and the attendance at FNMs and Pre releases have confirm it....especially at FNMs.

Again, this is just in YOUR area. One of the only reasons my old LGS sees people leave is because they move lol

    Um....my area?
My area is a country of over 30 million people and a massive MTG player base. The downturn in MTG sales in Canada is nationwide and I can assure you it is making a good size dent in WOTC revenue. If that doesn't matter then I don't know what does.

I'm fairly new to EDH so bare with me.
If I blink my commander somehow, does it not become a new entity...meaning that the extra (2) I pay each time I cast it should reset when blinked.
    Is that how it works?

This topic is funny because WotC wouldn't reprint these cards even if the reserved list didn't exist...

The point is 100% moot. FoW isn't on the reserved list... Did the judge printing help you get one? Was it in Modern Masters? FtV? Anywhere else? No.

    This bothers me a lot.
    Force of Will and Wasteland
There simply are not 2 more cards in the game in which WOTC excuse for not reprinting has been worse. There is NO EXCUSE. Conspiracy was a perfect opportunity and WOTC blew it. If they can print something as powerful as brainstorm in a pre con, there is no reason whatsoever to not print FOW and Wasteland.
For crying out loud, they are UNCOMMONS...both of them. But they prices have gotten so far out of hand that WOTC is probably paranoid to reprint them no because of fear of backlash for people's 'collection depreciation'. Rolleyes

They aren't talking about a physical contract. The contract was the reserved list and their promise to never reprint cards on it. MaRo often talks about the loss of trust involved with breaking such a promise; fear of losing that trust is the entirety of the reason why they have not removed the Reserved List.

Like I said.....that is NOT a contract. A contract is something written up as a legal document, and then signed by 2 or more parties, and also signed by at least 1 witness. There have been several people on this site that claim that there is a CONTRACT.....What we have here is nothing more than a handshake at the coffee local coffee shop....actually we don't even have that..... People need to educate themselves as to what is and what is not a contract.

Who are these people who keep talking about a contract??? There is no contract. WOTC never rounded up all the collectors and signed a contract....lol

Option #2: Ban every card on the reserved list from every existing sanctioned format including EDH.
Then you'll see the revised duals worth nothing.

Here is a little evidence to show you that investors wouldn't lose their shirts if we got rid of reserved list:
    Birds of Paradise

    13 reprints.
Never sees the light of day in legacy
    extreme fringe play in modern.

Alpha copy at STGames is $999.99

The argument that reprinting alpha/beta, unlimited, antiquities, Arabian nights, and Legends would cause cards to substantially devalue is a loss everytime.
The original cards are special and will NOT drop MUCH in value.
That is why an Alpha BOP after 13 reprints is worth a grand....period...end of story.

Snapcaster and Liliana are 99.999% guaranteed in the next Modern Masters. I can possibly see Lil back in the next INN...maybe...but Snappy doesn't stand a chance in you know where of ever seeing the light of day in any standard set ever again.

Opponent has Flooded Strand on the Battlefield. I 'legally' target it with Crumble to Dust. He sacs it in response. Do I or do I not still get to search his graveyard and library and exile the remaining 3?

  • posted a message on Do cards ever increase in price after rotation?
The reason cards tanked so bad after rotation in the past was because Modern didn't exist and Extended sucked super bad. No one played it. So basically, unless the card was a legacy staple, or a commander/casual favorite, there was no real reason to hold on to it. Modern has changed all that. Most cards still take a big hit at rotation, but not like they used to.
