Really good job with the deck. I borrowed heavily from your design to start my version. What i did differently was add Clock of Omens and Unwinding Clock. Untapping your artifacts is good. I put in more artifact mana like Mana Vault and Everflowing Chalice. Mana Vault is basically a reusable dark ritual which can be untapped easily with clock of omens, unwinding clock or Voltaic Key. I also think Contagion Engine and Lux Cannon needs to be in the deck. Contagion Engine is x4 proliferate (with the general out), and is nearly a one-sided wrath of god. x4 proliferate works well with Lux Cannon, Magistrate's Scepter, Everflowing Chalice, Mindless Automaton, and Pentavus. Memory Jar is a great draw card that needs to be in there. It a one-sided wheel of fortune unless your opponent have instants.
Taurean Mauler seems pretty good, idk about Distant Melody. Melody works good only if you have 3+ slivers in play. My version is somewhat light on slivers running only 27. I havn't played with it, but i can see it being very good.
Patriach's Bidding is absolutely in the deck. Check the decklist again. All Suns' Dawn and Aphetto Dredging are the other graveyard recurssion spells. Death Denied is another interesting card i saw posted in another sliver deck. It might be better than Dredging.
Sliver Legion is a Coat of Arms. If you wanna run both i don't think it would hurt the deck, but either one should win the game. The Legion is slightly easier to tutor for, so i give it the nod over the Coat.
Amoeboid Changeling definately goes well with the Sliver Overlord. The shroud ability of the Crystalline Sliver really messes with this combo. Its a matter of preferrence. I do everything i can to keep the Crystalline Sliver in play, so i choose to not use the changeling.
Mirror Entity. I honestly have not tested it. I feel that Sliver Legion bascially accomplishes the same effect of boosting the other slivers. ...but the mirror has huge potential, and it probably should make the deck. Thx for feedback on that card.
I am posting my Slivers edh deck in response to the many bad sliver decks i have seen posted on the internet. There are many slivers in print and the goal shouldnt be to throw one of each in a deck. While I don't think my sliver deck is the best deck ever made, i do think it is a step in the right direction and would apprectiate any positive feedback.
depending on what banned list you play, Sol Ring, Crucible of Worlds, and Sensei's Diving Top also get put in the deck.
Few notes and comments.
The deck has a pretty low mana curve. Nothing costs more than 5 mana. I feel it needs to have a few counters (i remember an old deck "counter slivers" being pretty good). I feel good about the planeswalkers add Jace, the Mind Sculptor if you have it.
First of all Training Grounds is absolutely sick with the Sliver Overlord. Mana Echoes and Sliver Queen will generate infinate mana and slivers.
The key of the deck is choosing the "correct" slivers and not having slivers with redundant or conflicting abilities. For example Darkheart Sliver and Victual Sliver have simular abilities. You don't need both in the same deck. I prefer the Darkheart because it requires no mana. Another example is Shifting Sliver being superior to Shadow Sliver.
Crystalline Sliver 's shroud ability conflicts with other slivers that "target" other slivers, such as Magma Sliver and Crypt Sliver. Crystalline Sliver is really good and i always want it in play, so i cut out slivers that target other slivers.
Some slivers that almost made the cut: Brood Sliver -if you want 1/1 slivers, use Queen. this is good sub if you can't afford or find Queen Dormant Sliver -idk. its good and there are plently of ways to sac it. i just don't want it on the board early in the game when i should be attacking. Frenetic Sliver -i'd rather have a counterspell instead Fury Sliver -its cost 6 mana, good sub if you don't have Sliver Legion
Let me know what you think, but im pretty sure this deck is pretty close to where it needs to be.
I liked the article, it was well written. I agree with Kicks and Bbrevus about the cost of the mana base. It looks like this article was written for decks that want to compete at the highest level. If you are taking this deck to a local Type 1 then it is not a budget deck, however if you are going to Worlds then it is a budget deck. I'm not going to spend $XXX for a local T1, I was expecting an article for "cheap" decks that are competitive at local T1.
Mtgsalvation and Mtgnews both had the morningstar listed as common, the official spoiler from wizards has it listed as uncommon. you were right Moogie.:-)
Is it just me or is the morningstar going to be really really good. If it is indeed common, this card will have a huge impact on the draft. It might be the best common period. What do u guys think? (any one else notice no walls in 9th)
