Banning Seething Song was obviously great for us, but I'm actually not happy about the Bloodbraid ban. I always found Jund an ok matchup (that's especially true for Ur version). We'll see how the metagame shifts now - I think there are 2 obvious "winners" from this banning - UWr tempo (which was great before and nothing changed for them) and Twin/Scapeshift (which didn't have great MU with jund). I don't care too much about UWr, because it's not a bad MU for us (it's not great, but it's ok), but more Twin and Scapeshift is certainly not a good news.
So with that in mind I think black splash for some early discard might be worth it now.

I play U/W super fish aggro and ive rolled over jund quite a few times lol... tho i got rolled over a few times myself from misplays and godhands... :-/. With 28 to 30 piranha can jund really have enough removal? especially with 2 kira main. Grin

When i play jund i have MB dark confidant and or goyf in my fish cause i run 4 MB Phantasmal Image and its pretty sick when facing them and ur out of removal lol. Worst case... its just another lord.:cool2: spreading seas is a nightmare for them as well... from my experience fish can apply a ton of pressure... to the point where theyre chumping with goyfs to stay alive. Im not sayin the matchup is easy... but this version of fish has worked best for me, and now with BBE gone... well we'll see how it goes.

GENERAL QUESTION: Some of us are crazy enough to run 1 -2 cryptic command MB... So if your build can support 2 4cc slots... why have we totally written off mirrorweave? with a deck full of lords at that? As a 2 of ur not building around it... or depending on it for that matter but with 28 lords it has to at least be SB worthy as a supprise combat trick or something... or am i just being silly?

Well i got me some watery graves and steam vents... about to get breeding pools and figure out how to go about some 3 color "splashing" (get it?)

Whats the 3 color combo that seems most interesting to you guys... UWR? UWG? UWB?

Whats worth splashing for in these colours anyways? (No need to flame me... this is an experiment for the sake of curiosity)

SGA is too good to take out. It's one of the only creatures in this GAME that replaces itself when played. It gives you a clock against combo decks (sometimes 1 toughness can die pretty easy, I realize) And it only gets better when you slam it down on a board of lords.

If I were to replace anything, it'd be Cavern of Souls. Pretty sure when the format's strongest counterspell costs 1UUU you don't need a land that makes them uncounterable. Plus you have Aether Vial, so who cares?

Yea it is too good to swap out! i mean that and spreading seas literally keep the deck churning... i was actually thinking about running that UU counter that bounces a creature to take advantage of this b4 i switched to superaggro. maybe its worth revisiting...

    @Doctor Philf: 2splashes might be doable 3 it isn't

Sorry if i was not clear... i run a U/W list so i was thinking about an additional color to bump it up to 3colour. Even if it means ditching white and going to som other odd combination like U/B/R...

Im just saying that maybe its time we consider exploring the colour pie... and if it works we'll be all famous! well... maybe well known lol ...for creating Merfolk Salvation!!! The new deck to beat Cool

suppose we splashed a 3rd colour to end up something like jund... spell-wise i mean?

our creature base is pretty set but what about running bolt and a 1mana discard spell. Maybe its time to experiment and have a 3 colour version... with one/two mana splash cards.

Just random thoughts... so dont shoot (or should i say drown) me. Just really wanna see the deck rise to the surface again... so i imagine im able to throw ideas in the pool Grin

This is where i apologise for the fish puns... im sowwy!

Hmmm... i find swords of most types to be a timewalk for tempo tho... just my opinion... and as asked b4... where would we put them?

Note... have you guys seen Biomass Mutation? Cud this work the changeling that kithkin ran? maybe as a 2 of finisher/ combat surprise/ pyroclasm dodger?

Everyone jump onto the offtopic train : In simic i trust since they're lead by a Merfolk, who knows what we'll get. if we get useful cards i won't mind splashing green etc.

my new test version of the deck

yep that's right i'm gone into the middle of full aggro country without regrets for now... XD.

joking aside, i've got to say tha 90 % of the time i'm changing the number of creatures from 26 to 28/29 and back...anyone else feels this way.

i feel the Spell are ok, no more no less than what i want to run.

The manabase might seem weird, but it's been consistent in all the games i played.

PS: the 61st card Kira, great glass spinner is a card because i like Odd decks...............ok bad pun :-D

Ok sooooo ive been contemplating testing this for some time now... how does it play... Do you really have no regrets... Does super aggro fish really not feel like it needs counters? How about in the SB... making it optimus fish prime or something lol

Im thinkin about dropping my counter package, bringing in my pte and replacing curse catcher with cosi's trickster

What are your thoughts on this since you've already bitten the bullet... or hook (one bad joke deserves another right?) Grin

My take on the deck, what do you think? Any suggestions would be appreciated before i go buy the cards.

I am thinking Spark Elemental needs replacement, but not sure with what. Also how is my land base?

Hmmm... i run a similar list... as Burn lol... but it runs well and has won me a few small tourneys. (i put it down regularly and play merfolk so they forget it exists lol)

I run keldon marauders in your sparky spot and i run 3 Blazes main and 1SB since its an aggro party killer but its awkward if u face something like storm and have a handful of blazes.

Paths i run in the SB... and i can see RDW running them main... but your list has no midrange ability at all. you'd need to bump up your critter count so you have some sort of board presence and pte then supports your creatures. RDW uses its burn/removal to get thru early beats then finishes its prey off with the leftover burn to the face/beats.

Land wise u need Scalding Tarn to be sure u can get to your shock lands... or the other RW dual... clifftop retreat to minimize your land shockage.

More recently i splahed with Blood crypt for Bump in the Night but im experimenting with a RBW so i can have bump and Helix main and a white an black SB lol... Greedy i know... but if it works maybe itll be the jund of burn lmao

i think its easy to say that the core burn critters are

with grim lavamancer being next up as a matter of preference since you sac speed for consistency... great against control too.

Wow i didnt know the RDW thread was so much fun... lol I run 12 fetches in my boros build for obvious reasons.... but i also in my burn i run 8 for my shocklands... gives me the option of a fun sideboard with PTE and erase for pesky leylines and rancors lol. I usually try to counter the life loss by running lightning helix.

In summary... fetches are useful only if you have a use for them.

That's one of the better-looking 1-drop/Proc lists I've seen on this thread Dr. Philf. Definitely looks like "fun", and I'm starting to respect Vexing Devil more and more in the right build. Personally, I'd probably cut a couple Rangers/ Proclamations for something like a proper finisher, and I'd also like to see at least 2 Grim Lavamancers in there, but otherwise seems like a good Boros Burn Alternative!

Why thank you... its good to see someone say something pleasant about this deck for a change.

I have no issue with VD, even if hes never what i want, either choice works for me to be honest. Games seldom last long enough for him to be bad.

I'm not fond of grim.... he's good but i find him too slow to be honest especially in my opening hand. I prefer to board him in the control match-up as he's an all star there.

3 rangers feels good to me as well as the 4 Procs since they keep the deck all gassed up. I can usually draw a Proc and cast it willy nilly in the first few turns to return early threats and keep pressure constant without ever really over extending :p meanwhile im still holding threats and drawing into more and probably a ranger to fetch more unpleasantness...

But lets say we did make the cuts for a proper finisher... what s good finisher in boros? Slant never really gave that any thought.

    RANDOM THOUGHTS:
**Fun fact! Sometimes i replace the Procs with jotun grunt Game 2 to leave my opponent with dead graveyard removal for the heck of it...

I was thinking today about switching it up... maybe adding a Mikaeus, the Lunarch or 2 SB. To get board wide pump goin on for aggressive match-ups.

How about Aether vial? Probably SB for control? thoughts?

What are the possibilities of a creature toolbox for the SB since we can pseudo fetch? [well i can with my high ranger count] and reanimate with Proc. Probably not worth it i guess. Figured it was worth mentioning even if its fruitless.

and to answer a random question i remember seeing in the thread... ill usually fetch VD x2 if the match is secure. but other times ill fetch FOD so i can pump for board presence or fly over. Or Guide x 2 is awesome against control since speed is of the essence. Dont think ive ever fetched a lynx b4... but when they show up early they usually go the distance so i dont complain about them.
