well you could repeatedly just place -1/-1 counters onto the messenger so yes it is a 2 card combo

    Oh oh course, duh :|

    Sadistic Troll 2BG
    Creature - Zombie Troll
Put a -1/-1 counter on target creature you control: Sadistic Troll gains Hexproof until end of turn
    4/3

I want this to happen, at least until it gets banned (which I'm pretty sure it will eventually), so I can sleeve up a sick Geralf's Messenger Pod deck

Sure it's powerful with Geralf's Messenger, but I don't think it's so powerful to get banned. Compare it to Splinter Twin which is also a combination of a 3/4 drop to go infinite. The deck would probably worse than Kiki-pod really. Though having Geralf's Messenger, Phyrexian Obliterator, Nykthos, and Birthing Pod in the same deck sounds like a blast.

It's a semi consistent T3 kill (T1 Mana Dork, T2: Messenger, T3: Troll or Pod into Troll), it's a lot faster than Kiki Pod, harder to interact with (Hexproof + sac Messenger in response to removal). It's a 2 card combo that costs 7 mana in total (like Twin), but doesn't die to removal and fit into a Pod shell plus both pieces are good on their own (unlike Exarch and Twin). I'm pretty sure it would be overpowered

And yeah It would be a blast to play! :p

How is it 2 card combo? You're still missing a repeatable sac outlet.

Very interesting design though, and looks a lot more like a card they would have made 10 years ago. I'm glad to see they are incorporating drawbacks into cards again.

A thousand times this. NWO order saw them ramping up card power level, then dropping the drawbacks to make creatures better. But maybe they are realizing now that you can make creatures even better with those drawbacks. I look at cards like this and relish the idea of people gambling with them, or finding outs for the drawbacks, making drafting, building and playing decisions to capitalize on the power. Some view these cards as swingy, not me. I thing if all cube creatures were replaced with generically awesome, no drawback Brimaz style cards it would decrease the fun.

And this guy looks like a Stay-Puffed Marshmellow Man who go too close to the fire.

NWO is only about complexity at common.

I play a pretty stock list, and the only card that seems like it will be more difficult to cast now is the 2X redcaps. I may be over worrying about it. Having the guaranteed extra white fixing is pretty good though.

Overall this doesn't actually seem too bad, playing against DRS was kind of a pain - so there is that at least.

And if zoo becomes more prelevent I feel that's actually pretty good for melira pod since I think we're pretty well positioned with the finks and all the built in lifegain - is that actually correct? I havn't done any playtesting.

Hm, what do we do now? Switch to Noble Hierarch? Doesn't fix black so feels like that will really weaken the deck. What are the other options?
