compare this with conquering manticore, which is a very similar card. this is probably more playable, but I'm not convinced it's all that much better, and CM didn't see much play.
Zealous costs 1 less, is more splashable, and can target any permanent. I would say that's a lot more playable, and a lot better.
Along with Restoration Angel and Cloudshift, this is my favorite card in AVR so far. I as well will be trying these guys in a R/W deck for the first time.
I can't wait to steal a Titan or Wurmcoil, attack, then Cloudshift for keeps.

:symtap:: Add to your mana pool.
:2mana::symg::symu:, :symtap:: Until end of turn, target creature you control gains Hexproof and becomes Unblockable.
There's a good chance it's way off from this, but this would be awesome. But this is just what I'd like to see out of it.

Since it is still unclear, this card is confirmed here. Speculation was before that, confirmation after.
Post your ideas.
The cards are on the ok side, but as for Killing Wave, now that's just nuts. Great against aggro decks which have the tendecy to tap out, so using this to kill a horde of creatures for just 1B while your opponent is tapped out is insanely good. But against control decks which has few finishers and lots of mana might not be a good idea, but with lots of control decks running tokens I think it could still be viable. In legacy this could probably make the cut in some SB since many decks runs lower land counts and works at 3-4 lands in a game.
I was thinking if this just blasted the token strategy out of standard, but we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully there would be a lot more goodies in the spoilers to come.
Read the card, I made the same mistake. It's not mana that's paid from the card, it's life.
The problem with Killing Wave is that Black Sun's Zenith exists. If you're casting wave for 4-6, why not cast Zenith for the same amount (it'll hit for 1 less because XBB, but still) and make damn sure their creatures are dead?
And just as a note: it hits your creatures too.
This. This card is just too situational to make any real impact right now. Even after BSZ drops, I can't see it being run much.
I was reading this card as "X mana" as opposed to "X life" for some reason, which would have been pretty ridiculous considering you could easily blow up the field with a tapped out opponent for only 2 mana and even save guys you had with any leftover.
The "X life" factor isn't as ridiculous, could be a bit more tech I suppose, but will most likely be too situational to run over something like BSZ for the time being. Still an interesting card though.
Wow. Haste?? If I wasn't playing w/r before I definitely am now.

Uncommon -Demonic Taskmaster
Rare - Restoration Angel
Mythic - Bruna, but mostly because she's a pretty hot angel.
Exactly. I can't see this working out in anyone's favor that often. It's way too situational.

So, who else is putting this in their Squirrel deck?

Though I guess you might want to run both depending on what all the deck requires. This is pretty exciting.
