I absolutely love how apathetic I am towards all of these.
The Jurassic Park dinosaurs are especially funny with Tyrannosaurus taking the place of an MTG creature that is literally a Spinosaurus and the Spinosaurus taking the place of a creature that that is literally a Tyrannosaur. LOL so goofy.
The basic lands are beautiful. I was actually one of the goons that bought the first round of snow land secret lairs and blinged out my favorite deck with them. A costly endeavor and I'm shamed that I supported the way they package the basic lands. There's no reason the basic lands shouldn't come with a stack of them. But, I am part of the problem unfortunately.
These are all awful. Just an assault on my eyes. Kev Walker's art is at least cool though none of the cards are desirable to me. I expected to be uninterested in most Secret Lairs but the interesting thing is that all of these styles with the exception of the baseball cards (which is awful all on its own) feel like they've been done before.
These aren't supposed to appeal to everyone but I thought their goal was to be unique. And we are already rehashing the B-movie poster style, the heavy metal music poster style, the black and white stuff, illegible squiggly alien thing, and nickelodeon cartoon style?
Seems to be another sign to just chill out with these. Or, maybe people who like those styles are excited for another round? I dunno...it's just "not for me" I guess.
Perhaps an unpopular opinion but I've always been an enjoyer of color-hoser cards, Choke, Chill, Light of Day, Perish, being a few of my favorites from times past. It's nice to see strong sideboard choices brought about once more.
I completely share this sentiment. It's was one of my favorite parts about MTG. It gives purpose to the different colors of magic and the color pie and creates a natural opportunity for strategic deck building and sideboarding. I love love love these kinds of cards.
It’s a shame that Spectral Hunt-Caller’s activation is so expensive. For that cost, the +3/+3 for a regular overrun would be appreciated. Still going to run it in casual decks because of that art though.
The queen is boring. Chatterfang does it better and at least was unique. We don’t need that effect for every tribe so I’m hoping this sort of thing dies with the queen now…
Oh, and it also has flash if you control a desert
Oh, and you can pay 2 mana to exile it from your graveyard and search your library for a desert land and put it onto the battlefield tapped.
So yeah, Into the North for deserts as well.
F**k, I hate new magic cards
