Force of Will is on the reserved list so I doubt we'll see it again. Goyf is still a possiblity in the future. It'll most likely be in a set...hopefully the dinosaur plane which was previewed in future sight.
Nope, FOW is an uncommon and as such not on the retarded list.
Some nice cards in this DD, nothing I need though, so I'll probably pass this.
Still, it would be really nice if they sometimes reprinted big money cards such as Tarmogoyf or Force of Will, as they are really a problem for eternal formats.
imaginarion asked: Why wasn't Karakas included in From the Vault: Realms? It's never been reprinted, isn't on the Reserve List, and is extremely hard to find since it's from Legends.
It has a lot to do with factors that I can’t talk about. It’s also banned in Commander which didn’t help its cause.
You missed the point. If the majority of the production line (remember, this isn't an unlimited run) gets snapped up, demand for the singles will go up, meaning the prices will go up.
That said, I don't think they'll do multiple first-foils of Legacy staples. Sylvan Library is almost certainly the banner card. (And let's be honest, foil Library is already a really good reason to buy this.)
If Sylvan Library is going to be the banner card, this set is going to tank hard. I don't care how much a black bordered Sylvan Library costs, you can get a NM white bordered one for 8 euros. If this is going to have similar print run to PDS, the pimp my deck -crowd and collectors aren't enough to soak up the product, and for $75 it needs to have some serious value to be worth buying.
EDIT: Also, if people are buying it for a specific money card (FOW or something else), they are likely to sell or trade the rest of the cards.
The problem is because its a set that is non random the highest value card drives the rest of the prices. If there is a foil FOW people will be selling the box for over $120 easily. That means each individual card is now worth more because you can only get as a set at the selling price or as a single from a dealer.
Or buy the singles from people who bought the set for FOW or other Legacy staple. You can do that from eBay or magiccardmarket.
If that is the case, wouldn't it mean that Commander players get to buy everything else for cheap as singles when those Legacy people sell everything in the set they don't need?
Why the wishing for Wasteland in Commander Arsenal? Isn't Strip Mine just better? Or are people looking for complaints and/or value only?
Strip mine costs like 1 euro, if you want it, you can get it easily. Even the foil one from FTV: Exiled is like 8 euros. Wasteland is more expensive and harder to get, so that's why people want it.
Overall, I'm happy with the product and one would have to be really naive to expect Wasteland and/or Karakas in addition to this already fine product. Of course there are some weak cards in it, but that's the case with ANY set/precon/promo thing.
Yeah, this FTV is fine unlike Legends, but it's definitely not the 'stone cold nuts' they said it would be. I guess that's why people are disappointed.
I agree with you but I think if anything that collectors of the game value the most its the power 9 and original duals so they would throw a temper tantrum if that happened which it will in another ten-twenty years when a group of players unite and legally challenge the reserve list policy because that's what it's going to take to get ANY RL reprints.
Yeah, probably that's true about power 9, but I don't think collectors (not 'investors') care that much about duals, as there are a lot of revised duals out there, the only reason they are so expensive is the massive popularity Legacy has.
Because they respect their players.
A trading card game doesn't last 20 years by screwing over the secondary-market values on purpose.
They understand it's a big part of the game.
I am not saying it should be 100% static, but they surely aren't going to print a million copies of every expensive Legacy card.
They know how much it would hurt their players' wallets.
Having too much secondary-market value is also a problem, as it prevents new players entering the format. It's understandable that you would be upset if your playset of FOWs would drop to 40 euros for instance, but I'd say it'd still be better than not reprinting. And yes, if I had bought FOWs for 150 euros, I would also be upset about reprints, but I wouldn't complain about it as I'd realize that it was the right thing to do so that others don't have to spend that kind of money for pieces of cardboard.
Of course printing a large number of Legacy staples in one set wouldn't be a good idea, as it'd really hurt those people who had bought them recently. Reprinting them slowly over sets would be a better approach for that..
I have never seen an EDH tournament as the people who I know play EDH are all casual players. I didn't know there was a tournament scene for EDH like Legacy, Type 2, or even Modern. If you have these big tournaments then I understand, but otherwise just print out some pieces of paper if you don't care and play with them as it serves a similar purpose. The thing with EDH is that people DO like their foils otherwise they wouldn't have such absurd multipliers on their values. Wizards is trying to appeal to those people who will spend 80 dollars on a card they could have gotten for 1$ (Looking at you Zur). I am just saying that last years Commander product was for the people looking for just the staples being reprinted en mass which they did. This time they are targeting the other group.
There is a time to be selfish, but when Wizards reaches out to try and facilitate another group of the same spectrum it is kind of crazy to attack Wizards for something people did demand. They are just just doing something that was asked of them by the commander community as a whole (Reprints check, and then foils for those who foil check).
I meant tournament legal so that I could use them in Legacy too. Actually, most people whom I play EDH with also play Legacy, but I guess it's different for some people.
Also, reprints for eternal formats have been asked from Wizards for years, and they haven't really ever done any meaningful reprints for them.

Yay, FOW FTW!

I don't think he was totally serious.
