Twisted Reflection is one of the most elegant designs I’ve ever seen,
but 1UB is kind of a lot for creature removal that is technically conditional,
even with the added utility of the non-fatal modes.
Obviously, it would have made a lot more waves if the spell had only cost U.
Would it be too good if the next mage got cmc 4 or 5?
No, that honestly sounds like the best way to handle the remaining gap.
One that just fetches 5 cost artifacts would be unplayable,
but I guess they could just name it “Trash Mage” and call it a day...
Right around the time this site closes,
I’ll be moving out of the apartment I moved into *right before* I got back into MtG and joined MtGS,
almost ten years ago at this point.
Oh, WotC... you just can’t go half a year without giving Golgari some “bonus” commander like this.
It would be nice if the other enemy pairs got this much love.
The red one could return a random Instant/Sorcery rather than a chosen one.
Obviously that’s not hard to manipulate,
but it seems a little more likely, at least.
They could also just make it Planeswalkers to really mess with us.
Yeah, I saw after zooming in... doesn’t help that blue and green are already very similar colors compared to other enemy pairs.
Glad they do all have two colors, though!
It’s been a couple of decades since the last one (Time Spiral).
As the owner of a Timetwister,
I suppose this saddens me a little,
but whatever, it’s not like I was going to sell it anyway!

It really is the end of an era

This one is a lot less extreme, but it still has tons of potential.
Yeah, Instants are a bit safer.
The only one that grants an extra turn is Nexus of Fate,
and that has built-in protection from this sort of recursion.
I guess Time Stop could be almost as oppressive,
but there are a number of infinite combo options once you reach 8-9 mana.
Good point.
That makes this the second card (after Mox Rhodochrosite or whatever it’s called)
to make me wish Shardless Agent were here

That’s obviously a great deal for the mana,
but will it still be useful with that long a delay?
I suspect at least a couple of decks may benefit from an additional T1 option.

This had BETTER not be fake,
I’ve been wanting this *exact* card for a very, very long time!
My pet Stasis deck is about to get a lot nastier...
Yeah, he had a ***** of a time escaping his original title,
Father of Unplanned Children.
