I just showed this to a friend (we both played through the first Zendikar block) and he said he thinks the temple part is refering a temple for Em (Emrakul). Not saying this makes the art a perfect fit for a "Temple Garden" but I think it makes it fit slightly more.
Wow! One of the expedition lands actually has art that actually looks like it's name. It must be a mistake!
Uh, Arid Mesa, Flooded Strand, Steam Vents, and now Misty. That makes 4.
And Godless Shrine.
And this art is perfect I want prints, dotal copys and t-shirts out of it lol. Def gonna be my new backround for tech stuff. Just kinda sad its a fetch land since I don't like to use them.
Yep, that's the art I was referring to.
Unless they pull a Nissa and show us a card we aren't getting yet,
this will be in BFZ, and UR and BG will be in OGW.
And of course the BG one will be the best- when have they ever passed on a chance to show BG more love?
Again, I've not seen anywhere that there will be a 3/2 split.
@Empathogen: I think its a little too soon to assume Nissa will not be in BfZ. With the two set blocks that means we will either get (and this assuming we are only getting 5 walkers per block) 3 in the first set and 2 in the second or 4 in the first set and 1 in the second set.
My feels towards this card are the same as my feeling for the new Ob, boring design but soild and IMO playable. I know a few of control/extort decks in my playgroup will be running these.
So it's possible to Awaken one of the Enemy manlands, it becomes a 0/0 elemental with a certain number of +1/+1 counters on it. But then you can activate the manland and it becomes a larger creature. Correct?
Just worth thinking about, especially if the manland has some evasion like flying. Imagine if you can make a UR 2/2 flying, Awaken it with something like Coastal Discovery (I'm actually holding out hope for a counterspell or bounce Blue Awaken, or just a direct damage Red Awaken), 6/6 flying when activated, oh and throw a Ghostfire Blade on it too.
Hexproof could also be helpful. Awaken the land, have a Ghostfire Blade on it, maybe other enchantments or equipment that care about colorless from BFZ, and keep the mana open to turn it into Hexproof if someone tries to get rid of it.
Just make sure you put Ghostfire Blade on before you activate the land because otherwise you won't get the discount for the equpt cost (the manlands become colored once you animate them).
I'm really likeing the eldrazi designs this time around. Last time they felt a little repeative (like every singel Ulamog brood looked like a mimi Ulamog), but this time you have to kind think about what brood these eldrazi come from.
I might not have decks for them but I love the old man lands and I'm so happy we are getting enemy colors. Hopefully this means we get them in oath as full arts.
They made Tamiyo to find out if people are excited about things from Kamigawa. Then they kind of kept her completely out of the spotlight and her only real 'characterization' was "she... likes the moon... we guess" and then they blamed it on the player's disinterest in Kamigawa that she wasn't as well received as the various protagonists with more story to them.
It also didn't help everyone was going gaga over Tibalt and thought Tamiyo was a boring version of Jace.
Oh love these art and love the idea of an eldrazi temple for Godless Shrine.
I guess I'm in the minority but I like the text boxes. They could have done been better but I can't rember every cards name and when you toss in alternet arts its worse, so I like to see the text and know "right this is the W/B shockland".
The worldbuilding panel is up, mostly looking at the world guild but its fun none the less. We know most of the major stuff, but we got a few small tibits. And Jenrik you'll be a little sad around the 40 min mark.
I'm assuming Gideon, Kiora, and Ob walkers in BFZ, with Nissa and Chandra in OGW. I guess there is a chance Ob would start as a creature as Jay guesses, but we already have a version that shows him unshackled, I think it's time to just get him back to form. I thought Nissa was going to be in BFZ before as well based on the close-up art, but has a walker ever not appeared on the boosters for that set?
I don't know, it seems to resemble a natural (well as natural as Zendikar's weird formations are) fountain to me.
Ditto. Plus the land mass on the island seems to look plains.
I guess I'm in the minority here but I like these lands. Have no hope of pulling them but I'm loving the alternet arts I've been seening. Hopefully we will get to see the art by itself in a higher quality.
It makes little sense to me to print all the Origin 5 involved here an not Kiora, when we will consistently see the Origin 5 but this is Kiora's prime time to shine.
It makes perfect sense that they'd focus on the Origins 5. Because that's precisely what the marketing focus and story focus has been on the past year. Especially with the tie-in to Duels. It's not even true that we will 'consistently see' the Origins 5. After this block, there are no core sets, and some other characters will get the limelight, I imagine.
They are definitely printing Gideon and Nissa this set. Jace and Chandra certainly next set. Ob Nixilis is highly suspected at this point for BFZ. That's 5 planeswalkers, and they've been going on about the 5 planeswalkers rule even in the 2-set paradigm for a while. Unless they break that rule, Kiora is not getting a card.
I consider Kiora more relevant to this story than Ob. I could see Ob gaining his spark and getting a card in a later set. Kiora's whole purpose was this battle. It would be absurd not to see her on a card with the Bident.
But you foget hey want to keep a relative balance in the colors of the walkers, with Jace and Nissa in this set (and sorry to say more important then Kiora) I think .Rai is right, unless they deside to gives us a 6th walekr for this block, Kiora will be going cardless.
And Godless Shrine.

Personally I'm hopeing for checklands (my favorite duel lands) and manlands seem like a flavorful fit.

And none of the walkers where featured on RTR block boosters and Elsepth was the only walker on the Theros boosters.
