Wolf is a great chump blocker and if not, like all Undying creatures it can come back from Day of Judgement half the time and BSZ always (sans Grafdigger's Cage shenanigans). Top-decking isn't too much of a problem if you have Lead the Stampede to refill your hand anyways. Plus, if they just ignore your Wolves entirely then well, you've just got more things to buff with Overrun. Not the best argument for it, but it's a great 1-drop creature.
Ooze is...yeah. It is an interesting card that has quite a few drawbacks. It can be quite fast if you get it out Turn 2, but later in the game it just turns into a really annoying blocker.
Yeah 6 anthems sounds like a good number to me. In the current build it only has 4 and it seems harder to get them out consistently and quickly. This is before the DKA cards, though, so with the 4 Captains maybe they aren't as necessary.
Good call on Image/Metamorph, though. Can't believe I overlooked those. I was thinking Image had good synergy with the anthems, but those two are a lot more versatile.
Do you guys think something like Ponder or some other draw has a place in this deck?
Trying to help a friend build a decent UW deck. She wants to do Spirits because she likes the theme, so I suggested making a Spirits/Tokens build. How's this?
No Saint Traft just because of $$$. Thinking about taking out the Battleground Geists for either Voiceless Spirits or more of the new low-costed Spirits. Probably taking out the mana leaks for more creatures, put em in the sideboard along with Stony Silence to get past Ratchet Bomb.
Angelic Overseer seems like a good card for your purposes. I use a few in my Human budget deck. The cost seems a bit high (5 mana, 2W), but it's not high enough that you will have trouble getting her out most of the time. You're always going to have a Human out alongside her, so she'll be Hexproof and Indestructible, meaning that very few (if any) things can kill her outside of Black Sun's Zenith. Only a $2 mythic, too, so running 2 or 3 couldn't hurt.
Mentor of the Meek I'm torn on. On one hand, card draw is awesome. But on the other, you have to take the Mayor of Avabruck's ability into account when your creature enters the battlefield, meaning you can't trigger it with other Mentors, Vanguard, or Hamlet Captain if you have a Mayor out.
Green is probably worth it just for Mayor and Hamlet Captain.
It also sounds (at least to me) that Demons will also play a big role in Avacyn Restored.
One of the big story cards of DKA is the Helvault, which is where Avacyn sealed Innistrad's demons. According to the story flavor, Avacyn has also been sealed in the Helvault. And as for the actual card, the mechanics work around exiling creatures and then destroying the Helvault to return those creatures to the field. Story wise, that implies that the Helvault will be destroyed and release not only Avacyn (giving humans a boost), but also all of those demons, and we'll see that reflected in the cards.
But yeah I do hope that humans get some good cards to stick with them after the last block cycles out. Maybe some more Green humans to make green more worthwhile. Plus it'll make it easier for someone like me who just got into MTG with Innistrad get my hands on them!
I mean, I'm no tournament finisher, I'm just a little confused.
Just FYI, Undying doesn't work that way. If there are +1 counters on it when it dies then it doesn't come back at all.
Still, nice points about Increasing Savagery. I wouldn't mind trying it out.
EDIT: Ah, looks like someone got to it before I did.
