I would suggest Pauper also. Someone told me about it when I first joined and now that is all I play. It seems that since most commons are pretty easy to come by most of time it levels the playing field.
Here is the official line I got from them when I emailed them
"Hello,
we shut wikiprice down for maintenance - it will stay down for another 7-8 days.
We are taking the chance to implement a couple of new features. Don't worry - you will be able to use wikiprice again very soon
Sincerely,
Albert
That was earlier today. So it will be down for a few days
The only way I can see this working is to rent on a per tournament basis. I would rent the deck out for what I would sell it for. They play it in one tournament and then give you back what they paid minus your fee. That way if either party flakes it's like it was a sale and nobody is out anything. Your customers are the people who want to play a top teir deck in hopes of winning a tourney but don't want to shell out a whole lot of cash to own the cards.
Yea just playing MTGO will make you a better player. I think skill comes from playing the game and MTGO is one of the easiest ways to get a game up. Like Paii said just take your plays slow and steady. Alot of people tend to speed through their turn and end up making sloppy plays or misclicks
Yea the chat interface is really dated. When me and my close friends play we use skype but really I shouldn't have to use outside programs to compensate for what should be there. I also disagree with the 75 card trading limit. I don't know how often they update the client but it sure could use some tweaks to make it more user friendly.
If you are having trouble finding someone to play a game of MTG with then MTGO is the way to go. My local cardshop closed down so I literaly had nowhere to play. I payed the 9.99 to get MTGO and have never looked back. You can't beat playing games at 3:00am in the comfort of you own home.
I was able to go to the free cardbot and put together a pauper Soldiers deck that infuriates some people. It runs 4x Veteran Armorsmith, 4x Veteran Swordsmith, and 4x Veteran Armorer. My point is you don't have to blow a ton of money to make a deck to just have fun with.
I always try to be as polite as I can possibly be. I always say "Good luck" and "Good game" reguardless of the outcome. Thankfully most people I have seen have been either really nice or completely silent.
I did have one guy get furious when he realized he couldn't counterspell a cycled Gempalm Avenger when I was playing a jank pauper soldiers deck. He kept messaging me and harassing me calling me a stupid noob. He is the only person on my blocked list.
What are you doing with your extra basic lands? If you need to get rid of them hit me up!
