Doesn't Cooperfauss also propagate the whole "Black sucks in cube" trope? I don't typically agree with his commentary, but I acknowledge that he has a unique perspective on cube, and more opinions is better than just an echo chamber.
How do you all feel about this card? I like that its so versatile and at a low CMC. I didn't see an SCD for this card, so I thought I would get a fresh take on it.
Pros:
You can double your artifact mana, or double your Myr Battlespheres. You can copy your opponent's sword or blow up their Jitte. It just seems like a solid addition but even better in a power cube.
Cons:
Can't really think of anything off the top of my head.
This card is so much fun to play with and I like it in my 450 cube. Granted, we don't use miracles so Entreat isn't an option here. We don't play Decree of Justice either, but as a token/sweeper its awesome.
I've been looking at this card for a while now as a black 1 drop vampire. My cube doesn't have any black levelers and this card seems pretty good for repeatable creature removal. I know it's weak to burn and all the other removal that makes levelers harder to evaluate than other creatures, but whats the communities take?
1. Volcanic Island (NM Revised)
2. Underground Sea (CE International)
3. JTMS
4. Bayou (~lower end of SP, Revised)
5. Force of Will (MP)
The rest of my ABU duals are proxied, but I've been slowly working that out. I also proxied a Mana Drain, but that might get cut because its just outrageous.
Morphling or Sphinx of Jwar Isle? I REALLY don't want to cut Morphling, but Sphinx just seems like a better card and well, Morphling had its time in the sun. Other finishers I'm including are Consecrated Sphinx, Keiga, and Palinchron.
This guy is a house, and people draft him all the time. A lot of fun to play with and he screws up combat and board planning. For me, he's not coming out.
Recurring Nightmare was a card that I loved when I was a new player, and having it in cube is a treat. Its usually among my first picked cards, and reanimating ETB creatures is really really fun. Personally, its one of my favorite cube cards. There are probably better and more efficient cards, but its just an iconic black card that always stands out for me.
Immediate reaction is that because Sheoldred isn't good until you untap with her, but she's like Consecrated Sphinx in that she just wins games if gone unchecked, whereas Griselbrand at worst is a draw 7, and at best he just wins as well.
AND
Chandra, the Firebrand or Tybalt, the Fiend-blooded?
I almost like Sacred Mesa better, 2W for a 1/1 dork is kind of steep. At least the Pegasus tokens fly. Unless you're supporting soldiers specifically, it might be better?

I go for big mana and fixing here in order to accommodate all kinds of decks. Aggro gets its nod and so does mid-range and control strategies.
